10. Good for you!
If I had that option, I'd have something non-traditional myself. But, since mom is cooking...

But later that night, I'm hosting an "orphan's" thanksgiving for wayward actors, and making a vegi chili. Yummy.

14. I've done that before. It can suck, or it can be better than average.
No family squabbling before, during and after the meal.

May yours be better than average.

27. Cornish Hens..
One bird.

Marinate in the stuff of your choice, maybe overnight.

Fold the wings back and cook the bird whole on your grill.
Delicious! I also bake them in the old oven. 45 minutes. You know!

My Aunt lives in Chicago in one of those high rise
buildings! Beautiful city.... Near the lake and downtown on LaSalle I think....

Happy holidays.

21. What do they taste like?
I wanted to buy one of the Tofurkey Dinners at Whole foods but I didn't want to spend $20.00 dollars on it without knowing what it tasted like.

19. Pig.
There's Turkey, and there's Ham. and for some reason, I always get asked to carve.
Guess that's because I make such nice, thin slices....

23. Apparently we only rate a Ham this year...
Mom doesn't cook any other days of the year save thanksgiving and Christmas, but she doesn't want to be put out to make a simple turkey breast and some stuffing. So, she's buying a premade ham and making STOVE TOP... :freak: This is going to be the worst Thanksgiving EVER....and dammit, my mom makes the best cornbread stuffing...I'm so bitter...

29. CROW - I am a Lions' fan; but it's my last link to the family tradition
Just like every Thanksgiving (and the Lions occasionally win the game), I will eat crow because I have been a Lions fan since 1962 (when I was 11). But, it's tradition. Mom's gone this year (September); my uncle and aunt who I always spent Thanksgiving with died some years ago; divorced twice; all my beloved pets are now dead; daughter is in Florida, and I will miss her terribly; the Hudson's Parade is now run by corporate out-of-staters. Yet, the one thing I cling to is the Lions' game. Don't go anymore, but it isn't Thanksgiving without it. All that's left, but it's something. Happy Thanksgiving.
