SOOOO Off To A TOWN HALL MEETING In A Few
the neighborhood is standing together to keep the people across the street from subdividing their lot and building a SECOND HOME on it (those of you who have been to my house might remember the place)

yup. the old lady died and the kids want to split it up, build ANOTHER house and get their $$

i'm gonna pull the 'environmental card' outta my ASS if I have to (watershed less than 90 feet away)

the old man was a town selectman for 20 years of his life. gonna be a HELL of a fight but we have NUMBERS on our side!!

wish us luck!

8. Glad you have so many going.
And hope there aren't any cronies willing to just do whatever the family wants.

9. From what I recall, there didn't seem to be that much space.
I mean there's some, but two houses on that lot would be CLOSE. Damn greedy bastards. Just sell the place, take your 1/2 and go away.

12. Good lord.
At times like this, I'm glad I have no siblings. No fighting over anything = no greed. ;)

16. It's a nightmare.
MOst of the damage has already been done. It was 30 years ago that the development took place. But it's still going on.

I totally salute you. I really hope you succeed. But it's really hard. They come through the back door.

Oh, I want to tell my stories. But it's just too much. Even today I was on the phone with public works, talking about a road that was supposed to be paid by a liquid petroleum pipeline company. But after all was done, they somehow managed to get their pipe in, and avoid paying the community.

13. I hate to break the news to you.
Good luck, by the way.

But this "phenomenon" is happening everywhere, in a big way. Being very involved in real estate for the last fifteen years, I've watched it all.

Where there are trees, it's "shred and sell". Or "mow and move", as I like to call it. But now it's, shred the trees, subdivide, and then sell.

In fact, two days ago I was talking with my realtor who just closed a deal on a 300 acre property where the (repub) buyer brought in a gang of lawyers who drew up a new contract that superceded the original, whereby the buyer bought the rights to the property. You see, the property is only subdividable to the original owner, under a pending law.

I absolutely HATE subdividing with a fiery passion. But remember- it's the population that's driving all of it. They have to live somewhere.

Best of luck. Hope they have to live with just selling what they have.

PS- I was interested in a piece of property, until the seller parceled off a chunk and is going to put 30 houses right next door to the 52 acres I want. Fuck him.

I could go on all day.

15. yeah but in this case it REALLY doesn't make sense
they can only fit a small cape on the property and the access IS an issue. it pretty fucking rediculous.

but...

small town politics. this is a continuation from an earlier meeting and we had such a large turnout the first time that they HAD to continue.

basically if they get the exemption (and their way) the whole neighborhood is gonna vote the town Selectmen (our form of gov't) OUT

we MIGHT just win with the #'s. will see...

stay tuned
