Kyle Orton Is A Liberal
Sorry i couldn't find a link to the piece in the Chicago Tribune. But on the back page of the sport section, there's a weekly item called "Our Guy". In it, a sports figure in Chicago is asked a series of questions, and the answers only are printed. It usually takes up about 2/3rds of the back page, with a feature picture.

Anyway, about the 5th from last question is about his interest in politics. He says he's really interested in politics and supports people like John Edwards, John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Barack Obama, Dick Durbin, and i think one more name. Then he says, "I guess that would make me a liberal!"

I knew i liked that kid.

1. While he was at Purdue, he mentioned that he wanted to be a Senator.
A Democratic Senator. :)

He does sound like a good kid.

2. Let's hope he develops MVP type talent
and then uses the popularity to run for office.

3. Or Just Decides He Likes The Spotlight Enough
Right now he's a bit reticent. But, if he's good, and he likes being the spotlight guy, he can do some damage in the long run.

I like that he's just an Iowa farm country kid who had a factory worker dad. And, instead of looking at his fat contract and thinking the world owes him something, he's taking a broader view of things.

4. Ok, I haven't gotten to see Orton play
but, I'm happy with how the Bears have been doing with him at QB.

Now, I'll have to actively like him! :D

9. Sorry. Chicago Tribune
I couldn't find it on their website though. Only in the print edition on the back page of Sports. Don't know why it's not in the web edition.

8. As an Iowan and a Chicago Bears fan this is great!
Maybe he could move back here someday and beat Grassley. While not lighting the league on fire, Orton has 6-3 record as a rookie. Things could still fall apart, but it looks like my laughed at predictions may come true. Bears to playoffs this year- Super Bowl Shuffle 2 next!

10. Always liked Orton
Since his Purdue days, when he wore #18 in honor of former Nebraska QB Brook Berringer, who died in a plane crash in 1996.
