2. Well, you're not,
so don't worry about that feeling. It's just a feeling, gf, and feelings aren't always the best measurement of what's true. Here, have a hug, youngster. :loveya: :yourock:

Oh, but let me tell you about one of my unfortunate experiences with the German language a few years ago.

Right after I married Call Me Wesley, one of our goddaughters asked me how old I was. I was trying to say, "Oh, I'm no young woman," and how I said it was, "O, Ich bin 'no' jungfrau."

Needless to say, I've since learned the _big_ difference between "jungfrau" and "jungefrau."

5. Yes, everyone in the room got a big kick out of it.
And it has become a family joke: "Heidi's no virgin." :eyes:

7. I have always felt old
When I was 24 I was hanging out with the church youth group as a leader-in-training. Clearly way older than the rest of the group. When I was 26 I went to graduate school. I was not the oldest person there but there were others who were 24 and completing the degree I was just starting. Then I was 28 when I graduated, too soon, but I wanted to start my life rather than spend three more years in school. I made a friend, who was 23. When I turned 33, I celebrated, if you can call it that, with a 23 year old girl. Worst. Birthday. Ever. Even worse than my 35th when I sprained my ankle. God I felt old then, but looking at it now, it seems young.

11. thirty is definitely on the way to old
when I turned 30 my brother sent me a mylar balloon. It said "roses are red, violets are blue, I am laughing like hell, because I'm younger than you." He still has more gray hair, but I have the ulcers.

9. I almost always feel old, but what's worse....
is I have all the burdens, the regrets, the aches of old age, but, it seems, none of the wisdom.

21. Well MHC....
I can say one thing for sure...

After living a few more years than you, probably experiencing a bit more of life than the normal person, I can safely say that getting older is truly a state of mind....

If you think old, and get comfortable with what is around you, life flies by and then, stuck with a vision of the world concocted at some earlier point in your life, nothing in the here and now measures up to that nostalgic feeling of youthful bliss cemented in your mind.... All of this, of course, leads directly to remorse, dread and much gnashing of teeth...Especially when missed opportunities start to pile up...

So, as very youthful 48, I can say, mentally, I am younger than I was at 30, better able to cope with life, happier as well....

and, contrary to popular belief.... The sex keeps getting better...

22. Well MHC,
After living a few more years than you and having experienced a bit more of life than the average Joe, I can safely say, with a certain degree of confidence, that you are only as old as you perceive yourself to be...

I think that most of us pick a point in our life that is perceived to be the best time... Then you create this whole nostalgic world that never will live up to the here ad now... And so, you pine for a world that doesn't exist and miss all the wonderful life that is going on around you right now....

Life is painful, ecstatic, wonderful and full of sorrow... But you have to grab for it before it is gone...

What keeps me young is a constant desire to learn as much as I possible can while here in this mortal plain...

I can tell you, with a relative degree of certainty, that life keeps getting better... I know one thing, the sex gets better cause you learn the erotic value of tenderness... You are only as old as you feel inside you mind...
