Groundhog or Woodchuck?
There's a Nissan commercial out with a fellow who gets attacked by a "Woodchuck" - In Pennsylvania, we got a kick out of this since we refer to this animal as a "groundhog"

We looked it up and they are indeed the same animal...

Just curious - what do you call this animal, and what state are you from?

1. Pest-destroyer of gardens, overly aggressive chomper
NJ Get a groundhog in the neighborhood no garden is safe, the squirrels and chipmunks depart, and dogs have heart attacks. They aren't timid either. Especially if young are involved.

Come on now...the answer is clear. ;)

But then Woodchuck Day doesn't have the same ring to it either.

To hell with it...

12. "Doesn't exist in California"
I've used "marmot," "groundhog" and "woodchuck" to describe the same animal, but I've never seen one outside photos and television...maybe in a zoo somewhere, but I don't specifically recall.
