What should I buy at Wal Mart?
I just won a $40 gift certificate. I don't want to NOT spend it because that would be just like giving them $40.

1. Perhaps donate it to hurricane relief?

There are many affected areas that have nothing but Walmart to shop at.

on edit, there is an 'E' in hurricane.

2. Now there's a depressing thought
Imagine only having a Wal Mart to shop at. A charity is a good idea, though. Perhaps I could give it to our local food bank.

3. If I was not near a Target, I would not shop!
Food bank is another good idea...

4. Welcome to Rural America.
In the town I currently live in, we have a Big K and a Walmart. There is a Super WalMart currently under construction. When it opens, you can be sure that a couple local grocery stores, the Big K, and most local hardware stores will close their doors. This is the nature of the beast in a small town.

5. Give it away to one of the Walmart "Greetesr", they would appreciate it.

Or have your kids' photos taken with it. Do something to not perpetuate it.

6. See if you can turn it in for cash.....
If not, buy something with it and walk directly over to returns and get your money back.

8. They probably won't give you cash for that return
most stores now have strict policies and if you paid with a gift card, they will give it back to you on a gift card.

9. You're right - they will not give you cash.
You have to buy merchandise. Maybe you could buy $40 worth of stuff, wait a few days, and then return it for cash?

7. Donate it to a local food bank or homeless shelter.
Or a battered women's shelter. Call your local volunteer fire department and see if they would accept it as a donation. Good for you!

10. You can be a re-gifter!
As they say on Seinfeld. Might be perfect gift for someone else!

And, someone ALREADY gave Wal-Mart $40 for the gift certicate. So if it's not used, more profit for Walmart.
