favortie fleetwood mac song
Sweet wonderful you,
You make me happy with the things you do,
Oh, can it be so,
This feeling follows me wherever I go.

I never did believe in miracles,
But I've a feeling it's time to try.
I never did believe in the ways of magic,
But I'm beginning to wonder why.

Don't, don't break the spell,
It would be different and you know it will,
You, you make loving fun,
And I don't have to tell you you're the only one.

You make loving fun.
You make loving fun.

1. The Chain.
Listen to the wind blow
Watch the sun rise
Run in the shadows
Damn your love
Damn your lies

And if you don't love me now
You will never love me again
I can still hear you saying
You would never break the chain.

Listen to the wind blow
Down comes the night

Run in the shadows
Damn your love
Damn your lies

Break the silence
Damn the dark
Damn the light

And if you don't love me now
You will never love me again
I can still hear you saying
You would never break the chain.

5. "Oh Well"
The classic Peter Green-led Fleetwood Mac song, IMO:

I can’t help about the shape I’m in
I can’t sing, I ain’t pretty and my legs are thin
But don’t ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to

Oh well

Now, when I talked to God I knew he’d understand
He said, stick by my side and I’ll be your guiding hand
But don’t ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to

Oh well....

19. Oh, yeah
The mention of god is telling, considering that Peter Green went on to join the Children of God, an extremely insane world-collective of freaks.

When I lived in Seattle some of the Children of God (think - The Corn) lived on Queen Anne Hill. At first, the neighbors thought it was okay, what could possibly be wrong with god fearing fellow residents? Then the overdoses started, and the stories of child abuse leaked out.

8. hm, tough one, going with: gypsy, up front & green manalishi...
from way back when...

So I'm back, to the velvet
underground
Back to the floor, that I love
To a room with some lace
and paper flowers
Back to the gypsy
that I was
To the gypsy...
that I was

And it all comes down to you
Well, you know that it does
Well, lightning strikes,
maybe once, maybe twice
Ah, and it lights up the night
And you see your gypsy
You see your gypsy

To the gypsy that remains
faces freedom with a little fear
I have no fear, I have only love
And if I was a child
And the child was enough
Enough for me to love
Enough to love

She is dancing away from me now
She was just a wish
She was just a wish
And a memory is all
that is left for you now
You see your gypsy
You see your gypsy

Lightning strikes,
maybe once, maybe twice
And it all comes down to you

And it all comes down to you

Lightning strikes,
maybe once, maybe twice
And it all comes down to you

I still see your bright eyes,
bright eyes
And it all comes down to you
I still see your bright eyes,
bright eyes
And it all comes down to you

I still see your bright eyes,
bright eyes
(She was just a wish)
(She was just a wish)
And it all comes down to you

Lightning strikes,
maybe once, maybe twice
And it all comes down to you

the green manalishi ~

Now, when the day goes to sleep and the full moon looks
The night is so black that the darkness cooks
Don’t you come creepin’ around - makin’ me do things I don’t want to

Can’t believe that you need my love so bad
Come sneakin’ around tryin’ to drive me mad
Bustin’ in on my dreams - making me see things I don’t wanna see

Break:

’cause you’re da green manalishi with the two prong crown
All my tryin’ is up - all your bringin’ is down
Just taking my love then slippin’ away
Leavin’ me here just tryin’ to keep from following you

but thewre are of course more than i can count on one hand B-)

12. Gotta be "Second Hand News"
One of the songs that always makes me smile, no matter what kind of mood I'm in!

:hi: samplegirl!

Second Hand News
(Lindsey Buckingham)
Rumours / Boxed Set / Very Best of Fleetwood Mac

I know there's nothing to say
Someone has taken my place
When times go bad
When times go rough
Won't you lay me down in tall grass
And let me do my stuff

I know I got nothin' on you
I know there's nothing to do
When times go bad
And you can't get enough
Won't you lay me down in the tall grass
And let me do my stuff

One thing I think you should know
I ain't gonna miss you when you go
Been down so long
I've been tossed around enough
Couldn't you just
Let me go down and do my stuff

I know you're hopin' to find
Someone who's gonna give you piece of mind
When times go bad
When times go rough
Won't you lay me down in tall grass
And let me do my stuff

I'm just second hand news
I'm just second hand news

13. I can't get enough of Fleetwood Mac or Stevie Nicks ~ here are 3 that love
Edge of Seventeen

Just like the white winged dove...
sings a song ...
Sounds like she's singing...
whoo...whoo...whoo
Just like the white winged dove...
sings a song...
Sounds like she's singing...
ooo...baby...ooo...said ooo

And the days go by....
like a strand in the wind
In the web that is my own...
I begin again
Said to my friend, baby...
Nothin' else mattered

He was no more...than a baby then
Well he... seemed broken hearted...
something within him
But the moment...that I first laid...
Eyes...on...him...all alone...
On the edge of...seventeen

Just like the white winged dove...
sings a song ...
Sounds like she's singing...
whoo...whoo...whoo
Just like the white winged dove...
sings a song...
Sounds like she's singing...
ooo...baby...ooo...said ooo

I went today...maybe I will go again...
tomorrow
And the music there it was hauntingly...
familiar
And I see you doing...
what I try to do for me
With the words from a poet...
and the voice from a choir
And a melody...nothing else mattered

Just like the white winged dove...
sings a song ...
Sounds like she's singing...
whoo...whoo...whoo
Just like the white winged dove...
sings a song...
Sounds like she's singing...
ooo...baby...ooo...said ooo

The clouds...never expect it...
when it rains
But the sea changes colours...
but the sea...
Does not change
And so...with the slow...graceful flow..
of age
I went forth...with an age old...
desire...to please
On the edge of...seventeen

Just like the white winged dove...
sings a song ...
Sounds like she's singing...
whoo...whoo...whoo
Just like the white winged dove...
sings a song...
Sounds like she's singing...
ooo...baby...ooo...said ooo

Well then suddenly...
there was no one...left standing
In the hall...yeah, yeah...
In a flood of tears
That no one really ever heard fall at all
Oh I went searchin' for an answer...
Up the stairs...and down the hall
Not to find an answer...
just to hear the call
Of a nightbird...singing...
come away...come away...

Just like the white winged dove...
sings a song ...
Sounds like she's singing...
whoo...whoo...whoo
Just like the white winged dove...
sings a song...
Sounds like she's singing...
ooo...baby...ooo...said ooo

Well I hear you in the morning...
and I hear you...
At nightfall...
sometime to be near you...
Is to be unable...to hear you...
my love...
I'm a few years older than you...
are (I'm a few years older than you) my love

Just like the white winged dove...
sings a song...
Sounds like she's singing...
ooo baby...ooo...said ...

Just like the white winged dove...
sings a song...
Sounds like she's singing...
ooo baby...ooo...said ...

Leather and Lace

Is love so fragile...
and the heart so hollow
Shatter with words...
impossible to follow
You're saying I'm fragile...I try not to be
I search only...for something I can't see

I have my own life...and I am stronger
Than you know
But I carry this feeling
When you walked into my house
That you won't be walking out the door
Still I carry this feeling
When you walked into my house
That you won't be walking out the door

Lovers forever...face to face
My city or mountains
Stay with me stay
I need you to love me
I need you today
Give to me your leather...
Take from me...my lace

You in the moonlight
With your sleepy eyes
Could you ever love a man like me
And you were right
When I walked into your house
I knew I'd never want to leave
Sometimes I'm a strong man
Sometimes cold and scared
And sometimes I cry
But that time I saw you
I knew with you to light my nights
Somehow I'd get by
First time I saw you
I knew with you to light my nights
Somehow I would get by

Lovers forever...face to face
My city or mountains
Stay with me stay
I need you to love me
I need you today
Give to me your leather
Take from me...my lace

Lovers forever...face to face
My city or mountains...stay with me stay
I need you to love me...I need you to stay
Give to me your leather
Take from me...my lace
Take from me...my lace
Take from me...my lace

Say You Will

Somethin' in you brought out somethin' in me, that I've never been since
That part of me that was only for you,
That kind of romance
Comes only once, that kind of love
That kind of fever dance
That you love because you become someone else in an instant

Say you will, say you will give me one more chance
At least give me time to change your mind
That always seems to heal the wounds, if I can
Get you to dance

Somethin' in you put a hold on my heart
It's hard to believe now
Here in the place that will never be dark
I remember that place...
That kind of touch, electricity of love
That certain kind of grace
That you love because you become someone else in an instant

Say you will, say you will give me one more chance
At least give me time to change your mind
That always seems to heal the wounds, if I can
Get you to dance

Say you will, say you will give me one more chance (say you will)
At least give me time to change your mind (say you will)
That always seems to heal the wounds, if I can
Get you to dance

Say you will, say you will give me one more chance (say you will)
At least give me time to change your mind (say you will)
That always seems to heal the wounds, if I can
Get you to dance

Say you will, say you will give me one more chance (say you will)
At least give me time to change your mind (say you will)
That always seems to heal the wounds, if I can
Get you to dance

Say you will, say you will give me one more chance (say you will)
At least give me time to change your mind (say you will)
That always seems to heal the wounds, if I can
Get you to dance

Say you will, say you will give me one more chance
At least give me time to change your mind
That always seems to heal the wounds, if I can
Get you to dance

Why I love that song is that it should have been on "Rummors" and back in the day there was limits of how many song could be on a record.

That song is probably Stevie's best.

Years later in 1997 when they recorded the live album "The Dance", "Silver Springs" was released as a single ... not a "B Side" as it was in 1977. It was nominated for a grammy.

It later was put on the re-mix CD of "Rummors" and Stevie was thrilled.

"She (Silver Springs) is a last where she belongs" ... Stevie said.

You could be my silver springs
Blue green colors flashin’
I would be your only dream
Your shining autumn, ocean crashing
And did you say she was pretty
And did you say that she loves you
Baby, I don’t wanna know

I’ll begin not to love you
Turn around, see me runnin’
I’ll say I loved you years ago
Tell myself you never loved me, no
And did you say she was pretty
And did you say that she loves you
Baby, I don’t wanna know
Oh, no
And can you tell me was it worth it
Really, I don’t wanna know

Time casts a spell on you, but you won’t forget me
I know I could have loved you, but you would not let me

Instrument solo

Time casts a spell on you, but you won’t forget me
I know I could have loved you, but you would not let me
I’ll follow you down til’ the sound of my voice will haunt you (on 3rd time
Stevie oversings, was I such a fool?
You’ll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you
(3x)

You could be my silver springs
My blue green colors flashin’

All it took was a special look
And I felt I knew you before
Didn’t mean to love you
Didn’t think it would work out

But I knew we would be together
And I couldn’t wait for more
But what can they say
It’s not against the law

I don’t hold you down
Maybe that’s why you’re around
But if I’m the one you love
Think about me

I believe that you really want me
But it’s not easy just to give in
So let yourself go and let love begin

35. Rhiannon, because I once knew a gray tabby of that name
both the cat and the song were supposedly named after the same medieval magician; Rhiannon's human was given to cranking up the soundtrack from "Witches of Eastwick" while, say, doing the housework.

When I first came to their house, I saw her, right in the doorway, perfectly striped. As I bent down to pet her, her other human (daughter) said, "She doesn't like people". Funny, a few minutes later, we were all on the couch... purrr purrrrrrrrr...

Why have I been thinking so much about a cat I knew briefly fifteen years ago? The place in question was three blocks up the street from me -- in New Orleans, maybe the best cat town there is.

"She moves like a cat in the dark, and wouldn't you love to love her?"

52. It was banned?
Why?

That's my fave. In fact, it's the only Fleetwood Mac song I like.

61. banned?
Didn't know it was banned but Tusk is a euphemism for a certain male body part

62. It was not banned here!
In fact, it was one of the songs I used to wake up to with my clock radio back then.

37. So many to choose from
But I'll go with Beautiful Child, since that's the one I listen to most lately

43. Belladonna ... I love you!
(stevie nicks)
Fleetwood mac
Tusk

Beautiful child
Beautiful child
You are a beautiful child
And I am a fool once more

You fell in love when I was only ten
The years disappeared
Much has gone by since then
I bite my lip, can you send me away
You touch
I have no choice
I have to stay
I had to stay

Sleepless child
There is so little time
Your eyes say yes
But you don’t say yes
I wish that you were mine

You say it will be harder in the morning
I wait for you to say, just go
Your hands, held mine so few hours
And I’m not a child anymore

I’m not a child anymore
I’m tall enough
To reach for the stars
I’m old enough
To love you from afar
To trusting... yes?
But then women usually are

I’m not a child anymore
No, I’m not a child, oh no
Tall enough to reach for the stars
I will do
As I’m told
Even if I never hold you again
I never hold you again

Not the original, the one from The Dance 6 or 7 years ago.

Amazing guitar work.

40. Sugar Daddy from their "White" Album
There were a few tracks from that record that were eclipsed by 'Rhiannon'. Most notably Blue Letter and World Turning but that's just my opinion.

Written by Stevie Nicks.

Intense silence
As she walked in the room
Her black robes trailing
Sister of the moon
And a black widow spider makes
More sound than she
And black moons in those eyes of hers
Made more sense to me
Heavy persuasion
It was hard to breathe
She was dark at the top of the stairs
And she called to me

And so I followed
As friends often do
I cared not for love, nor money
I think she knew
The people, they love her
And still they are the most cruel

She asked me
Be my sister, sister of the moon
Some call her sister of the moon
Some say illusions are her game
Wrap her in velvet
Does anyone, ah, know her name

So we make our choices
When there is no choice
And we listen to their voices
Ignoring our own voice

and didn't they have a song titled "17?"

48. "As Long As You Follow"
I've been searching
For a pot of gold
Like the kind you find
At the end of the Rainbow

I've been dreaming
Thought it was in vain
Ah but now you're here
Can't believe that you're back again

Now I know I can't lose
As long as you follow
I'm gonna win (I'm gonna win)
I'm gonna beg, steal, or borrow
As long as you follow

I've been wandering
Gone away too far
But the road was rough
To get back where you are

And the sun went down
It never seemed to rise
Ah but now you're here
With the light shining in your eyes

Now I know I can't lose
As long as you follow
I'm gonna win (I'm gonna win)
I'm gonna beg, steal, or borrow
Yes I can live today
If you give me tomorrow
As long as you follow

Fleetwood Mac up my crack.

But I don't agree with him. I like just about every song on Rumors

59. Don't Stop
If you wake up and don't want to smile,
If it takes just a little while,
Open your eyes and look at the day,
You'll see things in a different way.

Don't stop, thinking about tomorrow,
Don't stop, it'll soon be here,
It'll be, better than before,
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone.

Why not think about times to come,
And not about the things that you've done,
If your life was bad to you,
Just think what tomorrow will do.

Don't stop, thinking about tomorrow,
Don't stop, it'll soon be here,
It'll be, better than before,
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone.

All I want is to see you smile,
If it takes just a little while,
I know you don't believe that it's true,
I never meant any harm to you.

Don't stop, thinking about tomorrow,
Don't stop, it'll soon be here,
It'll be, better than before,
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone.

Don't you look back,
Don't you look back.
