1. Yes, but with the purpose of showing people who are like Archie how
bigoted they are.

3. Yes and no.
It showed what a bigot really looked like (your next door neighbor) yet it dealt w/ some really tough issues.
The show could never be done in this day and age. It's really too bad because we need characters like that on tv today.

6. of course
but if it was politically correct, it would be boring as hell. the whole point is to look at, and mock, the ignorance of bigots like archie

8. Mister we could use a man like ...
... Norman Lear again.

One of the greatest TV producers of all time. Brought politics to the airwaves. Liberal all the way.

Politically incorrect? BAH!

9. It was the incorrectness that made it a hit.

Although we did have Gloria & Meathead as the consciences of the family to balance Archie. And Edith was a sweet lady, as well as a hopeless co-dependent, passive-aggressive non-confrontationist.

Cling peaches!!!

She was delightfully neurotic.

10. Yes but I think it was intended that way
Not that they set out to write a show with a lot of PIC lines in it but I think the show was written honestly. I know many people, mainly my dad's friends and others from that generation that are like that.
I think it was an honest portrayal.

11. I think. . .
"All in the Family" is partly responsible for today's climate of political correctness, whether you agree with it or not.

12. Y'know, I can't think of a politically correct well-regarded hit TV show.
