I just realized: My cat looks like Courtney Love.

She usually likes to stare at me, wide-eyed...prolonged eye contact action until she makes you feel all weird and stuff. Like she's looking directly into your soul and she knows about that thing you did when you were in the third grade that you're still ashamed about (as you should be, you disgusting little person).

But once the camera is trained on her, she performs. In the pic above, she tries to act coy, like, "oh, no, please don't take my picture. That'd be just awful." But that little smirk and the way her eyes exhude a sly invitation to "pat me on the head" bespeak a pronounced thespian streak.

It's almost as if she's prepping for the part of Courtney Love in the movie about said nutso rock star's life. You can almost smell the decadence, the dissipation, the wild nights of drugs and giblets. Her self-confidence, bordering on smugness, is overwhelming. But just try to look away.

One thing about cats -- they always look great, no matter how old they are (well, usually). Humans, on the other hand, usually look a little rough around the edges fairly early in their life span. Boy does that go for ol' Courtney.
