XTC Fans Hold Gathering in Swindon Last Weekend.....
Edited on Mon Oct-03-05 03:22 PM by XNASA
...but nobody from the band bothered to showed up.

In what I can only guess was an effort to get Partridge and Moulding to perform, or at the very least, to attend an XTC fan gathering.....XTC fans held their 2005 gathering in XTC's hometown of Swindon where Andy Partridge and Colin Moulding still live.

They were both no shows.

Lee Moulding, Colin' son, did play drums on a couple of songs.

I swear, is there anyone more reclusive than Andy Partridge?

1. I heard that Aimee Mann coaxed Andy onstage during one of her performances
IIRC, she got him to play tambourine on a cover of one of his own songs, I can't remember which one.

I have a precious, old video tape called "Urgh! A Music War" that has footage of XTC performing "Respectable Street". I live in fear of the day it breaks.

:scared:

3. That was about 10 years ago.
I believe they sang ‘Collideascope’ together which is actually a Dukes song.

2. Reportedly, he has a horrible problem with agoraphobia.
Panic attacks, big and bad. That's the main reason XTC quit touring.

6. Not entirely true.
XTC did plenty of small, unplugged shows after Andy suffered his infamous panic attack on-stage in Paris.

What he really has is a fear of touring.....and not making any money off it. But XTC has performed on TV in Britain and even made an appearance on Letterman.

If hundreds of people came from all over the world to gather in the name of a band that you created....I would think that putting in an appearance would be the least you could do.

5. They were supposed to perform at a festival I went to
I was so excited as I knew they didn't play in public often. They were a no show, of course. I was so disappointed because they were one of the main reasons I went.
