Unfortunately I'm a gazillion miles away from a cinema that'll show it so I'm going to have to wait for it to come out on DVD. I loved Akira and Fist of the North Star when I was growing up but tuned out anime totally until I saw Spirited Away and was blown away.
3. Miyazaki's a good layer or two above the average anime director
And above most other animators to boot. Most other anime isn't anywhere near as good.
Do not delay. It's weird and beautiful...
I still have arguments with a pal about whether Spirited Away or Totoro is better and now I tell her forget it, Moving Castle eclipses both. Also I have realised that I have a long-standing friend who has never seen ANY Miyazaki (I thought he'd seen all of them, I just had him pigeonholed as that type) so soon I will be sitting him down with a DVD player and a LOT of popcorn!
