Doesn't that last "9" on the price of gas look ridiculous

now that the price of a gallon of gas is approaching three bucks a gallon and there's no retreat in sight? I think it has been used since WW II.

It's time to retire it, if for no other reason that it really looks silly.

Sometimes I'll see stations that don't bother to put the "2" in front of the "54" or "65" or whatever. I can remember when gas WAS 89¢ or so. We shall never see those days again.
