Lean ground beef and too-cheap ground turkey?
I've noticed 3 brands of ground turkey available. One for 79 cents a pound. One for $1.29/pound. One for $1.79/pound.

I had bought the 79 cent pound brand and really liked the taste and the health nutrition info was identical to the other two brands. So I thought nothing of the price at the time.

However, I told mum about this brand and she thought they might be using low quality turkey, also combining less desirable bits of turkey... But she uses Jennie-O, the $1.29 variety. At 50 cents less per pound, this makes for an inexpensive meat source, but maybe there is an unseen quality issue?

I also bought lean ground beef a couple weeks back because it was on sale and whose nutritional elements were similar to the ground turkey. However, unlike the ground turkey, this ground beef has no taste of any kind. What can I do to improve the taste?

Thanks much!

1. Find a grocery store that has pot roast on sale
Grind it yourself you can save money that way and you can control the amount of fat that goes into it.

What state are you in? There is a person on eBay that sells gift certificates to stores and restaurants and they have a certificate to a good butcher in Evanston for a couple of bucks for 5 pounds of 98% ground round.

3. Type in Gift Certificates on eBay
Restaurant.com is one of the sellers and they cater to MN. The other one is certified ? and they sell gift certificates to stores also.
