I'm in for either humans or cats...

Humans have shown themselves to be unworthy of this world.

Cat's are just waaaaaaay overrated.

Would have to be one of those two for me...

we have a fence and i put 2 barb less wires about 2 1/2 inches from the side of the fence near the top on the sideof the fence all around. That prevents her from climbing out and the dogs are contained.. unlike the neighbors wolves.

24. Their essential niche is by the side of people who like them...
Also, isn't that the same argument Hitler used to justify eradicating the Jews?

The songbird thing is an absurd myth, just like the abortion crap the RW spews. Only total and utter nuclear fall out would kill EVERY song bird in the UK.

C'mon now. There are far more undesirable people who need to be eliminated than cats or ANY animal for that matter.

cats should not be allowed to run unattended.. they spread worse than the Kudzu around here

i am offended by the Hitler CRAP.. get real

I have lived where there were literally hundreds of starving Feral cats in a city block.. in a whole neighborhood. it was tragic and sickening..if you went out to the dumpsters at the apartments you couldn't get near it.. people were so afraid to get near them because when you threw your bag in 20 or 30 cats would explode out of the thing and run all over.. so people just threw their trash at it from a distance and it was an awful mess.. worse when the starving cats tore it up going threw it.

we have a cat that is part of the family, but neighbors have cat outside.. spewing out kittens.. it is a mess. The other neighbors have 4 white wolves which run lose that maintain the cat population
to a minimum...

I am trying to prevent cruelty and suffering through starvation and Predation and you pull the Cat Hitler Crap.... that is disgusting

It was a little tongue in cheek, sort of like the whole thread.

I am fully supportive of responsible pet ownership, spaying, neutering, containment, for all domestic pets. I thought we were all participating in a semi-satirical rant, hence the Hitler reference. (As he once said "the Jews have no homeland.") And you said cats had no real niche.

I am no more REALLY calling you Hitler than anyone on this thread is REALLY advocating wiping out the entire human race.

I'm sorry if you were genuinely offended. That was not my intent. I was just being deadpan - like you were.

Edited on Mon Jul-25-05 07:35 PM by Vektor
I'm kidding the OP. I wasn't even talking to you. Like the OP's post, mine was a SATIRICAL RESPONSE to what was likely a tongue-in-cheek suggestion that we eliminate cats and the human race. And NO I did not compare the OP himself to Hitler. I compared his statement about cats having no essential niche to Hitler's statement that the Jews had no essential homeland. I compared a statement to a statement, not a person to a person. No need to overreact. And I said what I did for the purpose of being WRY, just as this thread was obviously intended to be.

As I explained already.

There, "break" rendered.

Geez.

Even though I see no use for some, there is a critter out there somewhere that depends on it for survival..

Mother Nature didn't make many mistakes, and the evidence is plain for all to see that when we eliminate a "pest", there is usually an upsurge of a different pest because the food chain is a one way conveyor belt and nothing goe to waste in nature:)

21. poison ivy, stinging nettles, coral snakes, grackles
two weeks ago I would have said plantain as well, but I have read that it has its uses.

http://botanical.com/botanical/mgmh/p/placom43.html

It is a great disfigurement to lawns, rapidly multiplying if allowed to spread, each plant quite destroying the grass that originally occupied the spot usurped by its dense rosette of leaves.

Decoctions of Plantain entered into almost every old remedy, and it was boiled with Docks, Comfrey and a variety of flowers.

A decoction of Plantain was considered good in disorders of the kidneys, and the root, powdered, in complaints of the bowels. The expressed juice was recommended for spitting of blood and piles. Boyle recommends an electuary made of fresh Comfrey roots, juice of Plantain and sugar as very efficacious in spitting of blood. Plantain juice mixed with lemon juice was judged an excellent diuretic. The powdered dried leaves, taken in drink, were thought to destroy worms.

http://www.turbana.com/produ_recipes/plant_recipe_index.htm

The German Commission E recommends using 1/4–1/2 teaspoon (1–3 grams) of the leaf daily in the form of tea made by steeping the herb in 1 cup (250 ml) of hot water for 10–15 minutes (making three cups (750 ml ) per day).10 The fresh leaves can be applied directly three or four times per day to minor injuries, dermatitis, and insect stings.

61. Hey Peggy!
It was beautiful there...very picturesque beaches...beautiful Mediterranean super-villas. It was in Porto Cervo by the Costa Smeralda (Emerald Coast of course). The only problem was that it was off the charts in absolute upscaleness. I mean someone worth only $20M would feel like they are in the poorhouse there - unbelieveable - all the yachts in the harbor were worth about $20M - or more...At least I did not have to pay a dime for the trip and in fact I got paid! When I went out for drinks, each drink was 20 Euro - $25!!!!! lots of pretty people though and I love the whole Italian cafe thing - I love to sit out in the sun and read or meet people...very relaxing way to be...I had a lot of work to do while there, but at least I could do it in a nice setting!

The total spontaneity of the trip was awesome though - I mean having someone call you and telling you to get to the airport with 3 hours to go is a rush...I have always been an adrenaline junky of the highest order. Could explain a lot of my goals and aspirations in life! Also, while there UBS made me a nice little offer on their trading desk...so I will be moving back east pronto!

BTW, here in Canada (and we should know), they're called Canada geese, not Canadian geese. Pass it on. The term "Canadian geese" used to be funny and charming, but now it's just irritating. Next time I hear it, I may knock whoever says it off his bike and come at him hissing and flapping my wings.
