"Cocaine" is not about cocaine.
It's Eric Clapton's tribute to Italian neo-realism. He was primarily interested in Fellini's work & was simply using cocaine as a metaphor.

7. pssst - JJ Cale
(John Cale was the Welsh violist with the Velvet Underground, and in spite of a long subsequent solo recording career, he was not JJ Cale, who wrote "Cocaine.")

11. They're both named John, actually...
"JJ" probably decided to call himself that because there was already a John Cale on the music scene.

Karl Rove's Attorney.

Wikipedia has this to say about JJ: "He was born Jean Jacques Cale in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and raised in Tulsa."

5. Cocaine is usually about more cocaine. And not much else.
But a lot of things are usually about more of themselves, and not much else.

Dollars, for instance.
