There are no walls or guard rails along many parts of the South Rim. :D

Remind me, if you ever visit, to serve you only thinned chicken soup and matzah.

20. Looking strangely like Teddy Roosevelt there
With the right haircut, moustache, glasses and clothes, you'd be a ringer for him.

22. He was the first president to visit the Grand Canyon
And he traveled the very same tracks I did, which were operable in 1901. :-)

24. Good nose for history
I had forgotten that, but you're absolutely right. He also worked as a ranch hand, initially an object of scorn, but eventually earning the respect of the other cowboys. He was equal parts anti-trust common man and jingoistic imperialist cowboy. I admire him and deplore him at the same time. A great man with mortal flaws, one of the last of the warrior-statesmen. We won't see his like again.

25. That's how I feel
His "big stick" foreign policy STILL dominates American "thinking" to this day, and it drives me nuts. On the other hand, he fought monopolies, stopped the war between Japan and Russia (and making him the first president to win the Nobel Peace Prize, and the only one to do so while in office), and quit the Republican Party when they were getting too conservative for him. His favorite cousin was Eleanor Roosevelt.

He was a conservationist and environmentalist.

But he was also the epitome of the swaggering American cowboy.

He was the American Paradox in one person.

Although it is disgusting how America bullied Spain into war in 1898, Roosevelt was at least not a hypocritical chickenhawk. He resigned his post as Secretary of the Navy and enlisted to fight. Could you imagine that TODAY?

He was perhaps the most complex president outside of Lincoln or Jefferson. Certainly the one who elicits the most mixed reaction from me.

26. Weird thing is, with all of the masturbation threads going on tonight
I was half-expecting to open this post up and find out it was about rim-jobs. I discovered it was actually about the Grand Canyon, which had been my other guess.
