Might as well stay awake. Damn these household chores that had to be done before we leave tomorrow--er, today.

Who else is still up?

And, Kleeb, congrats! on your graduation!!! Smart kid. :hi:

Yeah I am up. I graduated this past wednesday and I got the PM about what happened, plus last night I saw a really good movie about the murders of the civil rights workers in Mississiphi last night.

5. I knew you'd be up.
Did you see Mississippi Burning last night? It has some flaws--the FBI agents in the movie were much more heroic than they really were in Mississippi. For instance, civil rights workers would go to the FBI and give them info about Klan activity, and the FBI would just ignore them and tell them that they couldn't do anything unless they caught them in the act.

I talked to a guy at the trial who told me that he was a civil rights worker in Meridian, and he had volunteered to ride with Goodman, Schwerner, and Chaney on their fateful last trip to Neshoba, but Mickey Schwerner would not let him ride with them because he was only 17, and they expected there to be trouble.

This guy that I talked to told me that, after the civil rights workers went missing, and as authorities combed the state for them, they actually found many other bodies of slain black men around the state--he said "Bodies surfaced like crazy" but that they were never reported because all that mattered at the time was finding the THREE bodies together--one black man and two white men. Such a disgrace in the history of my state.

I'm so glad that Killen is behind bars. I understand that there will be an appeal hearing this week. I may go back for that, too.

Have you decided which college you will attend?

Thanks again, btw doing great despite having a rough past few days.

4. Newfoundland, Canada must be really far east
Maine is 1.5 hours behind you. I've been to Canada from Quebec westward. Maybe some day I will get to visit those eastern provinces.

11. Is there a bridge from the mainland?
Or does everything come by ship and ferry?

15. That's cool as fuck
I will have to get up that way and ride a ferry across in my big truck. I once had the opportunity to take a load to Prince Edward Island from Seattle in my big truck. I turned it down because I was an owner operator at the time and the load didn't pay enough. I now wish that I had taken it just for the experience.

Newfoundland is much larger than PEI, but yeah, might be an interesting experience if you're not from here.
