Gaydar alert, which actors do you think are gay?
Okay, this post drags me down to a new low, but I don't care! :P

Personally, I couldn't care - it's just fun to guess. :-)

I think Bill Bixby was gay. For some reason my gaydar goes off the scale everytime I see him in "The Incredible Hulk".

Robert Reed was an obvious one as well (long before the AIDS revelation and other recent TV shows which pointed out the fact, I could tell.)

Or am I just poking at pins and needles?

If you told me aliens swooped down over Washington DC and abducted the entire Bush administration and transported them to some far away galaxy, I'd believe THAT. But you tell me Christopher Lowell isn't gay? Wouldn't believe it in a million years. Methinks you are confused. There is no way in hell that man is straight. Nope. Nada. No how. That man makes the Cowardly Lion look like the most macho male thing on earth.

But he was absolutely hilarious in everything he did, particularly "Three's Company" as the goofy wackball (or is that 'wacky goofball?) Mr. Furley.

Man, they've got to release more of these old shows on DVD... I imaging they don't because then nobody would watch the new stuff on the telly, which is pretty much worthless and they know it...

14. Don't forget Vincent Price, but
that's like shooting a fish in a barrel. Given the time period, I can see why he wanted to stay closeted.

And then there's Liberace, who strived to be the greatest piano player ever but is now forgotten except for the one little thing he was too ashamed of... (being gay) :-(

Lynde definitely was... I dunno about Rip Taylor, mostly because I've not ever seen him...

25. I dunno
but to the best of my knowledge neither Robert Vaughn nor Hugh O'Brian (and thank you for the names) ever married, or were even seen with women for that matter.

Vaughn talked about political office at one time, but nothing ever came of it. O'Brian sank without a trace after the series ended.

I think there were tabloid photos of Vaughn, but never of O'Brian with dates.

Given the times, I assumed they just stayed closeted.

39. Hugh O'Brian dated Soraya
who was the ex-wife of the Shah of Iran (the one before Queen Farah). I know this because my relatives subscribed to German gossip magazines, and Soraya was as much of a favorite topic for them as Jennifer Lopez is for our tabloids.

They said that she went for Hugh O'Brian because he looked like the Shah (which he did, kind of).

On the other hand, she could have been "camouflage" for him.

Of course, the one thing that's universal is that there's no such thing as an actor who is emotionally well-balanced or one who isn't mentally ill. They're all selfish egomaniacs to an extent. Tom Cruise comes to mind, oddly...

18. Ever see "Jeffrey"?
Patrick Stewart hams it up in that little movie... So much so that I think he's more anti-gay than really-gay. I mean, he was waaaaaay over the top in some scenes. But I will admit he certainly ENJOYED playing the role, that's indisputable.

Of course, maybe he's always wanted to act like that - I can't exactly blame him, I go around saying things like "oh animal crackers" instead of actually swearing, so that's my dead giveaway...

42. The pair I have trouble believing is
Sir Laurence Olivier and Danny Kaye, although their relationship is supposed to have lasted for several years.

It's not that I have trouble believing that either of them was gay--I just have trouble picturing them as a couple.

Oh, and then there's Raymond Burr. He always claimed to be a widower, but no one could find a record of any marriages, and then after he died, it was revealed that he'd been in a relationship with another man for decades.

43. Snicker. This thread might be two miles long if you talked bisexual.
I would first like to apologize to God for participating in this
but I am a shameless person so here goes:

Robert Vaughn: Married for many, many years. Lovely man.
Joel Gray: fathered a child so maybe bi if he swings.

Tom Selleck: Married for many years and still is, father.

Patrick Stewart: Married, divorced, remarried.

Van Damme: Someone I know did him. Ladies man. Likes belgium waffles
the morning after. :) Cook Belgium food, he's yours. :)

Don Knotts: Married multiple times, loves the ladies, father, still
married. I adore him.

Vincent Price: Married a million years happily.

Jack Cassidy: Married more than once, father.

Chris Melloni: Married, father. Loves to do edgy stuff. rocks as
Keller on Oz. MAJOR gay icon. drool.

Sir Larry and Danny Kay: Long story. Very true. Danny Kay was an open gay secret for millions of years.

Arnold Schwartzennegger was said to be kept by old gay men in his earlier get to the top years. Lots of nude piccies and such floating about. What a great possibility for Governor of my state. SIGH!

Get this. Randolph Scott and Gary Cooper lived together for YEARS before they got married. Open secret in Gollywood.

Word is some of the cast of Lord of the Rings swings both ways, not just Ian McKellan but since they aren't out, I won't say which ones.
But Sean Bean it ain't. Been married three times. Gotta love a guy
who tries. :)

57. But we can't rule people out just because they're married
Sir Lawrence Olivier was married to both Vivien Leigh and Joan Plowright, and maybe someone else in between.

Danny Kaye was married and had a daughter.

This just goes to show that, as Fats Waller says in Stormy Weather, "One never does know, do one?"

68. There used to be a guy at Salon who did books about this.
I wish I could remember his name... He had written at least one or two books about who was gay in Hollywood.

He was convinced I'm homophobic because I disagreed with him about outing people. My feeling is that it ain't nobody's business, and it ain't up to you to tell. His view is that everyone should be outed because not to implies there is something wrong with being gay...

We finally agreed to disagree.

He outed DiCaprio and a few others that I have since forgotten.

Laura
