Unintelligible crap

2. Actually, you're wrong
Edited on Tue Jun-21-05 11:29 PM by DS1
Your right to spew crap is not infringed upon when it's deleted by the powers that be on a messageboard. You don't run the board, you don't pay the costs to run it, you are however welcome to say whatever you want in public, so long as you pay for it. You can stand outside with a sign stating your feelings all you want. You are, however, not guaranteed a right to say what you want on an internet messageboard.

Cheers.

3. Well, actually, you are allowed to say it, there is just no guarantee that
it (and/or you) won't be gone in eighteen seconds

5. There's no guarantee at all
In fact, one could bring out an mp3 of Feynman talking about atomic theory as a case towards the the power of the 1st Amendmant, and its value as a teaching the public, and still get told to STFU.

8. Yes, but the fact remains that you can still do it, even if what you plan
Edited on Tue Jun-21-05 11:41 PM by qnr
on doing isn't particularly smart.

Edit: I'm not disputing the existence of the rules, TOS, whatever. Just saying you can type whatever you want, as long as you have fingers and access to the board.

11. Still not true
Skinner doesn't HAVE to let you on his messageboard, it could be a completely closed system, one that you and I would never even know about.

You're assuming that this messageboard software automatically allows anyone to register and post messages, right now it's set up that way, but it doesn't have to be. Everything that is said on this board that remains is there because it falls into the rules that the Admins have set up.

13. It is still true, in the manner originally broached. I might have a power
failure, which would make it untrue, my keyboard might be stolen by sapient ducks, which would make it untrue - however, as a general rule, it is true.

15. And as I call such ducks to the stand, one by one
and I interrogate them, in the most humane method possible, I'll dismiss your ducks as useless testimony

4. I still have the right to post it.
The owners of said message board have the right, which is stated in the message board rules to delete it, if they wish.

You are allowed the priviledge of posting here, on Skinner's terms, at his pleasure.

There are NO constitutional rights here, there are no rights to say what you think here, you are all here because Skinner allows you and I to be here. I'm not saying that there are no constitutional rights here, but I am saying that we are all here because Skinner et al allows us to be here.

12. So what you are saying is that
because this board has rules that are outside the realm of free speech and is privately owned, that in fact it does not abide by the First Amendment? The First Amendment doesn't apply to private property? That is news to me.

is part of the first amendmant itself.

7. "grievances"? What, are you one of them pinko whiners?
If you loved Jesus and prayed you wouldn't have to complain about anything.

America is perfect just the way Lord Jesus made it.

16. You do realise, of course,
That this passage specifically says "Congress shall make no law.."

And that Congress has made no law doing any such thing. But Congresses powers to interfer and intercede in free trade are similarly constitutionally limited. Congress cannot make rules and law with regard to how this message board conducts it's business. And as long as this message board complies with the laws pertinent to it's operation, the owners and operators thereof are completely free to limit or restrict the speech that occurs herein in any way they see fit.

Of course, there are no rules on DU regarding one's being a blithering twit any more than there are laws in this country prohibiting one from being a bigoted ignoramous.

One shouldn't expect, however, to behave like a blithering twit or a bigoted ignoramous free from the poor opinions of others.

If a fellow wants to behave with all the charm of a poo-flinging syphillitic monkey he may. And the rest of us are completely free to regard him as a person with all the charm of a poo-flinging syphillitic monkey. At some point we're all judged by the choices that we make.
