Why is Dolly Parton a Republican Babe of the Week?

From what I gather Dolly Parton is NOT a Republican.

In fact she seems pretty liberal.

Dolly Parton, others compile CD benefiting homosexual group

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)--Taking sides in a cultural battle, some of the nation's top artists -- including Mandy Moore, the Dixie Chicks and Dolly Parton -- have contributed to a CD that benefits the nation's largest homosexual activist organization.

All of the proceeds from the CD, "Love Rocks," will go to the Human Rights Campaign -- a homosexual activist organization that has figured prominently in the push to legalize same-sex "marriage" nationwide and works to promote "lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights."

I was just wondering, is Dolly Democrat or Republican?
Robin

Well, Dolly has never publicly professed her political affiliation and avoids speaking about political issues at just about any time. Even though she was selected by a GOP group this week as its Republican Babe Of The Week, if I were to guess, I'd think she's more of an independent than a Democrat of Republican. That said, many of the charities and programs she supports and many of the beliefs she has publicly espoused have tended to be what most would consider on the more liberal side of the political spectrum, which is traditionally a more Democratic field than Republican.

Now I don't know if Dolly Parton has a political prefrence as she's never come out and said if she's a liberal or a conservative. However I find it funny that Republicans would automatically call her a Republican because she's a country music star.

Obviously Dolly Parton supports gay rights and is very environmentally conscious. Whether that makes her a Democrat is unclear...however I see no evidence that she's a Republican.

Do any of you?

1. I just assumed she was a gay Scientologist . . .
. . . Since she is a terrible actress and all of her movies suck.

5. Just a doggone minute, Pard. Dolly Parton is a down home country Lady...
In my opinion, she is much better at acting than you and her movies have far outsold yours. Besides that, she has enormous, uh, chests.

3. She hasn't given ANY money to either Dems or Reps
Nice to hear about Dolly supporting homosexuals, I had heard she was a repub and it broke my heart.

Knowing that may not be true, makes me happy, i love her music.

4. It's possible that she doesn't want her political affiliation known
For the sake of fans who are on both side of the aisle.

On the surface I would think she is a Dem but then again I never paid that much attention to an entertainers politics. Unless it may be helpful to understand a certain piece of work they have done.
