The Goblin kitty is back! (with pics)
Edited on Sun Jun-19-05 01:29 AM by Lorien
Remember this little guy?

I got him on Freecycle; only two weeks old and in dire need of someone to bottle feed him (the woman who rescued him was deathly allergic).

After a few weeks his ears had not unfolded. He looked like a furry little Goblin:

Two weeks later and *poink* up went the ears!

Even though he loved to play with my kitty Oberon, he still needed siblings to help him learn how to behave (use the litter box, not bite so hard, groom himself, etc):

So off he went with another foster mom. She placed him with other kittens his age. Sadly, most of those kittens passed away when a horrible new strain of distemper swept through all the local shelters and rescue groups. Somehow, the Goblin survived.

Two days ago he was returned to me, finally healthy again, neutered, and with all his shots. I took him to my holistic pet food store with my other foster kittens. He was adopted right away! The couple who adopted him work at EA sports, which is where many of my former colleagues from Disney Animation went to work. Small world! They have a female cat who is SO desperate for a kitty to "mother" that she carries around a stuffed toy, grooms it, and tries to nurse it! It's the perfect situation; she needs someone to love, and he never had a kitty mom to mother him (he was abandoned at two days old). They should be just what each other needed. :-)

So here's the little Goblin; still small, still odd (and squinting from the flash) and still a little lovekitty.

1. Thanks for being a great foster-mom . . .
to that little guy. He's just beautiful. What's his personality like?

5. Very dog-like
he follows me everywhere and looks at me like I'm a Goddess, lol! Big wide eyes (see the forth pic-like that, to this day)! He's pretty quiet and not at all demanding. He does get nutty around food, though; dives in and doesn't come up for air until it's gone (he'll growl at the other kittens if they get near his bowl, too). He loves to touch people's faces lightly with both of his front paws while purring at them lovingly and looking deep into their eyes. I think he's a romantic at heart. ;-)

6. He sounds perfectly charming . . .
Edited on Sun Jun-19-05 01:48 AM by Heidi
and a lot like our boy-cat, Ginger. Ginger's so "dog-like" that he sniffs other animals' butts. We have no idea where that trait came from.

8. That's a long story.
Edited on Sun Jun-19-05 01:55 AM by Heidi
My mother-in-law's farm cat had a litter of kittens, and my MIL knew I'd want one, so she gave them all English-language names, not knowing what any of those names meant. So the three kittens names were Tabitha, Barley and Ginger. When Ginger came to live with us at 12 weeks old, he knew his own name, so we thought it best to not change his name. But he has a whole slew of nicknames, including Gingi DaVinci and Chooch (Cherokee for "boy").

27. My Siamese not only sniffs butts but points at prey
he is really doglike. He points when he's on his leash too. He retrieves sparkley balls as well, he's done that since I got him as a young cat at 5 months.

and such a sive-like memory!

On edit; there's a surprising number of industry people here; Dreamworks, EA, commercial animators, you name it. Good to see since many that I've worked with have no interest in politics.

10. what a sweet baby!
what a happy ending for goblin and yourself! I hope I get to find out what happens to my foster babies after they leave me. I think the time is coming soon, one of them is losing interest in soft food, and started munching on mom's big kibble today, and they are going to the litter box without my help occasionally too. :-( they grow up so fast!

Goblin and LBK could be related!

about four weeks old

about six weeks old

about eight weeks old

I love happy endings! Kisses for Goblin. I'm so happy for him. I wish all pets could be so lucky.

Edited to add: Yes, the distemper part was horrible.

19. Lol!
I've worked for Disney for 16 years, and I've managed to avoid that ride the entire time! I even did some animation for the EuroDisney version, and still avoided the song. ;-)
