What store do you or your family always shop for groceries??

My parents shop for food at Cub Foods, a local Minnesota chain. And for most of the year, when I'm in college living in a dorm, I shop for food at Sun Mart (A local Fargo-Moorhead chain).

And I better not hear many replies of "Wal-Mart Supercenter".:D

7. There's only one in St Louis right now....

It's in Clayton (a wealthy suburb of St Louis). There used to be one in Chesterfield in West County but I guess it didn't do well so they closed it. I like the Wild Oats in Clayton because it's small and I can usually find things on sale.

But I mainly shop at Logli's, a local supermarket chain that is now owned by Schnuck's. Other times, I shop at Hilander, which is now owned by Kroger. I used to work at both, too, otherwise, I would try not to support corporate oligarchy. But my friends have to eat! :P

6. I didn't know Cub spread out into Illinois.

Then again, TCF Bank has spread out into Chicagoland too.

9. Cub spread into Indiana about 20 years ago, now they're gone.

We had several Cub stores in Indy but I think they have all closed.

12. Cub Foods has been in Springfield Illinois for approx

ten years now. For a long time unions in Springfield urged a boycott of Cub Foods. I think it was due to the use of non union labor to build it and I think their workers are non union. If only that was the only non union grocery in Springfield IL....now there is a Super Wal-Mart in the more working class north side of town.

My dad lives in Wilmington, NC and the Harris teeter stores there have a good selection of Organics and are nice and clean....

We have a few in the DC area, only in Northern Virginia though.

22. Here in San Antonio, I have 3 choices, Walmart, Target or HEB.

so.......I usually go to HEB. Kinda sucks not having a real choice. But at least HEB keeps their price low.

Pretty good prices. Some food I buy at Target. I rarely go to the bigname stores (Jewel, Dominics) around here unless theres a sale on what I need.

29. Meijer, now that I have no money

I used to shop at the Holiday Market in Royal Oak, because they had all this gourmet cooking stuff. I am now saving $20+ a week shopping at Meijer, which has most of the stuff I need anyways.

Meijer is a competitor of WalMart. Meijer is owned by conservative christians, but they are a union outfit and treat their employees much better than their competitor. Also, the Meijer family is not all that in your face about religion, unlike other dutch reformed business leaders in W. Michigan, like the DeVos criminal enterprise formerly known as Amway.
