Mel Brooks must be beside himself.

They are the most unlikely couple.

7. One of the best
I always wanted her to work more in her later years, but evidently she had some serious stage fright. Sigh... she was amazingly good.

Torch Song Trilogy... Garbo Talks.... 84 Charing Cross Road....

10. Shit. I loved her.
Only 10 years older than me.
I would have given my left (fill in the blank) to have been the REAL graduate opposite her.
Just damn.

16. Here's to You, Mrs. Robinson...

We'd like to know
A little bit about you
For our files.
We'd like to help you learn
To help yourself.
Look around you. All you see
Are sympathetic eyes.
Stroll around the grounds
Until you feel at home.

And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson,
Jesus loves you more than you will know
Wo wo wo
God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson,
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
Hey hey hey, hey hey hey

Hide it in a hiding place
Where no one ever goes.
Put it in you pantry with your cupcakes.
It's a little secret,
Just the Robinsons' affair.
Most of all, you've got to hide it
from the kids.

Coo coo ca-choo, Mrs. Robinson,
Jesus loves you more than you will know
Wo wo wo

God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson,
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
Hey hey hey, hey hey hey

Sitting on a sofa
On a Sunday afternoon,
Going to the candidates' debate,
Laugh about it,
Shout about it,
When you've got to choose,
Every way you look at it you lose.

Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio?
A nation turns its lonely eyes to you
Ooo ooo ooo.

What's that you say, Mrs. Robinson?
"Joltin' Joe has left and gone away"
Hey hey hey, hey hey hey

18. That's terrible news
She was always terrific. So is her husband.

I had no idea that they had been married 40 years. I'm sure Mel must be just devastated.

22. Another terrific actress gone.
My condolences to Mel Brooks and family. Huge loss.

I think I'll go to Blockbuster tonight and see if I can rent some of her movies. One of my absolute faves was 84 Charing Cross Road.

24. I agree...
if she was in a movie, it was worth seeing. She was just mesmerizing on-screen. The only equivalents I know of today are Shirley MacLaine and Vanessa Redgrave.

25. yes.... vanessa redgrave is amazing
Edited on Tue Jun-07-05 11:55 PM by faithnotgreed
i have an odd respect for shirley mclaine. she can really belt out a part cant she? and a real independent spirit

however i would put vanessa redgrave in similar company as anne bancroft. perhaps because of the parts they chose (and the energy that just radiates from them) they feel far different to me than shirley mclaine.
ms redgrave has awesome politics and does the most incredibly fierce acting. she has truly lived a life

they are all unique talents. i just gravitate towards those who run under the radar

26. me, too...
but all of the above-mentioned actresses were amazing. But for their generation, Bancroft, Maclaine and Redgrave are especially good.

People laugh at me because I think the only equivalent actor today is Nicole Kidman.

She will surprise all of them.
