1. Not a telemarketer, but
I called lots and lots of Pennsylvanians on election day 2004. I felt like a major pain in the ass, but I had to do it. I had to keep busy or else I would have had a nervous breakdown.

I just visualized the people being as angry as I am when people bug me (especially the Republicans I had to call, which I'm not sure why I had to call) and it made me uncomfortable.

7. actually, when I was 17 or 18 I telemarketed for a summer
I wouldn't wish it on anyone. The rudeness and hate of people like myself is all too much to bear for a sensitive young man

8. I don't give a shit about the rudeness.
Just hang up or let me do my spiel through so the supervisors don't get on my ass. The occasional donation would be good too

4. Not quite.
But I used to be a polltaker for the Gallup Organization. It was incredibly boring, demanding work, and I quit in less than 6 months. Their quotas were too high for my paltry talent (x completed surveys per hour). As a caller, I ran into tons of answering machines, answering services, and people who could not understand the legal difference between phone solicitors and social researchers (re: do not call lists)..
