I have a computer/internet question about the history file.

I have cleared out my internet history four times today and every time I click on it, there it all is again. WTF?

I even went into Tools, then Internet Tools, then clear history in there and it clears it, but then as soon as I hit the history button again, there it all is again.

Does anyone know how to REALLY clear it out?

1. ARe you clearing out your TEMP directory?

That's where all the stuff in your history file comes from.

But a lot of what's there for say DU is things like thread formats, peoples' avatars, the DU logo. That's why it's able to load so fast when you visit, you already have a lot of the page resident in your temp memory.

6. I use both of these free programs, and they work quite well:

Click on "Download CleanUp Now" on the right side of the page and then scroll about halfway down that page. Under "Available From" click "CleanUp40.exe" to download. (Yeah, it's a confusing website, but the program is good -- and free). Once the program is installed, click "Options" and, on the "General" tab, make sure that "Standard Clean Up" is selected, otherwise you will wipe out all your favorites!

This is also a good program that will clean up temp files, history, cookies, etc. Works with IE and Firefox.
