I was pretty fed up with the male dating pool, and thought life might be easier if I were a lesbian, because the women I knew were great and the men, well, not so great. I finally met a terrific guy I could live with (and married him) but for a while I had lost hope.

I am cursedly straight, which used to REALLY piss me off when the available men were all sorely lacking.

14. Sad. To me the Christian thing to do would be to give them birth

control and protection from AIDS, like medicine! Actually had missionaries in my family, so I think is some respects they DO help, but in that respect it is mostly awful. I am glad I belong to a Church (Episcopalian) whose hierarchy actually approves of birth control (Since Aug 15, 1933) and abortion in cases of rape/incest (since around 1967). But some of them fundies are scary and they are the most numerous group and give missionaries a bad name!

I gotta add somewhere that Sweden repeatedly ranks in the top three for infant/mother outcomes - re: births. the US come in anywhere between 20th and 26th (I haven't seen the 2004 data yet) and that's on a worldwide scale. but we have the best medical system in the world, right?

(psst, they chalk it up to prenatal care, midwifery, homebirth, and extended, at-home postpartum care, all part of a national healthcare system!)
