750 Pounds Of Cocaine Found In Fake Fruit
<snip>

MIAMI -- Federal agents Thursday seized a shipment of 750 pounds of cocaine hidden in fake plantains mixed in a delivery of the real tropical fruit from Ecuador.

The fiberglass plantains were filled with the drugs and crafted to confuse agents searching 1,080 boxes of fruit in a refrigerated container at the Port of Miami, U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman Zach Mann said.

The cocaine has a wholesale value of $6.1 million, and is worth several times more on the street, Mann said.

Plantains resemble bananas and can be cooked or eaten raw, when they're green, or ripe. They grow in the tropics and are used to make several Latin American dishes.

Smugglers have used other fruit shipments to hide their drugs. Authorities once found 300 pounds of cocaine stuffed into plaster-of-Paris yams stored in a Miami warehouse.

2. HAHAHAHAHA
You may not be old enough to remember, but when I was a kid, there was an urban legend to the effect that you could get high by smoking a carefully prepared extract of bananas.

At last, it's true, and the extract is called crack!
