"You spin me right round, baby, right round like a record, baby, right round, round, round..." That song has been in my head today as I watch one low pressure system after another pinwheel around New England. Last night's storm resembled a hurricane moving from East to West on the satellite and radar imagery, and now we're gearing up for the next coastal low currently intesifying off Nantucket Island. That should bring another period of windy and icy weather tonight and tomorrow.

It was great to stand (well, I actually fell once) in the 90mph winds of last night. We'll see if we can get a repeat performance. I am determined not to fall this time. For the record, I sort of voluntarily fell, like when you trip and it's easier to fall than try to stumble and recover. You look slightly less foolish that way. At least I think so.

The summit is practically a ghost town. The gift shop and museum are ready to handle tourists, but as you can see from the picture, if they came they'd probably become encased in ice and then we'd put them on display as human popsicles. We seem to have gotten into a rhythm where the night is dominated by sleet/freezing rain (poor Tim has to de-ice the instruments all night) followed by slight warmups and melting ice during the day. Then it's rinse, lather, repeat.

Tomorrow is my first shift change, assuming the weather cooperates and we can get down the Auto Road. It will be interesting to see if spring truly arrives before I get back here in a week.
