Somehow I managed to avoid any report about the impending , that might be a good sign. maybe I'll find a club not hosting an Eurovision party. Then again: I don't feel like trying.

When I lived in that end of the world, where they'd show that program, I would host a huge party, we would all watch and make wiseass comments. I always cheered for my host nation, though, even if the entry stunk!

My feed cut out about two or three songs after TURKEY, and then I got distracted. I rather liked that large woman near the beginning, her voice sounded very strong and clear, and the tune wasn't bad, either. She was my favorite for the time that I watched, anyway.

She didn't have a lot of flashing lights and half naked dancers, along with a disco beat, though, so I guess she did not win. Anyway, I am curious to know, suppose I could look it up, but, eh lazy me!

But the large woman, from Malta I think, did well - in the top 3, I think. I thought her song was a rip off of 'Power of Love' by Jennfier Rush. Then again, most of the other songs were ripoffs of last year's winner.

powerful and clear...a lovely smile, a good song....but, silly lass, no nekkid accompaniment. She probably would have won if she'd been surrounded by half nekkid men in fur underwear brandishing whips and tipping bowlers....

I saw Greece's entry, and I didn't think it was all that good. Turkey is probably irritated!

After a while, the over-the-top, rat-ta-tat performances all kind of melt together, and the ones that stand out are the different ones, like Malta.

But then, it always seems that there is strategic-political voting going on at those events. It's like the IDOL franchise, on a larger scale (to include countries that historically have never been considered part of "Europe" but hey, whatever!). I wish they'd show that over here, it is a good excuse for a party, though the time zones don't quite line up...
