5. "Misterioso"
by Monk. Isn't there one that he did with Milt Jackson and MJQ?

I always ask for such cliched stuff, I guess. But I like it.

Failing that, and just to compound my "One Note Charlie" problem, how about that cover of "That's All Right, Mama" from the new Curtis Stigers CD?

I won't be hurt if nothing I beg for gets on.

I'm tuning in now, lady. Thanks for the notice.

a few big names.

But you're right, "good is good."

Loving this swinging shit you're playing right now.

14. I love Saturday Jazz with progmom!
How about Charlie Parker doing "Mohawk"?

But I am loving the swing so I might just have to request Glenn Miller. B-)

But then again, T-Bone Walker's "You call it Stormy Monday" is good for any day of the week, even though it is probably classed under blues, it is jazzy and classy too. :o

I don't know progmom. I am all confused right now. You take your pick of those three and surprise me! :bounce:

16. Hi progmom! How about the "Concierto"?
Edited on Sat May-21-05 11:17 AM by IMModerate
The "Concierto d'Aranuez" is one of the most recorded classical pieces by jazz musicians. I have versions by Jim Hall, Bucky Pizzarelli, Dorothy Ashby, Chick Corea ("Spain") and of course, Miles Davis. Oh yeah and some classical recordings.

Anyway, do you know of any others? How about playing one of them? You are the goto person for questions of this type. :loveya:

So, you come out "swingin'?" Louis Prima rocks!

34. This Brubeck is something. Nice nice nice.
Some barista at the Starbucks at 22nd & Park Ave, NYC was telling me that Brubeck had recorded some live thing there. Couldn't get it clear from the guy whether that had been a recent appearance, though.

I did get to see the Brubeck Quintet a few years ago, unfortunately it was with the Oregon Symphony, who was performing Brubeck's best-forgotten classical piece "The Gates of Justice." Argh.

But then the orchestra and choir vanished and we got to hear some tasty jazz.

Since my show is only two hours long, and it is interrupted by a newscast in the middle, and since you all have such great requests, and so many, can we try to stick to requests for songs under 10 minutes long?
