The conflict between naturalism and militarism certainly resonates (recall the Last March of the Ents in LOTR); alas, the Ewoks are just too damn cute to come across as authentic, and their battle with the stormtroopers is staged terribly and a bit tidy (ironically, this is one of the few things that would benefit from a special edition tweaking--Lucas could just add some CG ewoks and troopers).

I have to say, though: the ewoks are the most fascinating homage to the Vietcong I've ever seen (according to a Biskind article, Lucas modeled the Emperor on one Richard Nixon).
