5. That was so stupid ...
10,000,000 people about to die ... and he's crushed because his son is gay! :eyes:

So what was the purpose of that ... to suggest that gay people consort with terrorists? :eyes:

6. His gay tree-hugging anti-establishment liberal son
But no, I didnt see that, I think he was more pissed at the son not telling them everything in the first place.

9. "gay tree-hugging anti-establishment liberal son"
Edited on Mon May-16-05 09:32 PM by BattyDem

That's exactly my point. The son is everything the RW despises and he's portrayed as the "bad" guy ... the liar ... the dupe ... the terrorist enabler.

You're right, Daddy was pissed off that junior didn't tell him everything in the first place ... but why would the son mention a one night stand he had a week ago when being interrogated about terrorists?

That whole scene really pissed me off - I'm a big William Devane fan and I hate it when they make him do stupid shit, LOL! :-)

14. ***SPECULATION****
I think he's covering for the father. I still think the SOD is tied up in all of this- it sure as hell would make a good twist.

something just didn't sit well with me regarding Heller.

8. Love the show -- but they may have crossed a line with me.
The anti-war, hippie, liberal son accidentally helped the terrorists by getting high and having gay sex. Hmmm....not too many stereotypes in that sentence.

As I said above - the son is everything the RW despises ... and he just happens to be the one who helps the terrorists. Ok, it was an accident ... but still!

11. I keep trying to think of ANY reason . . .
why it would be relevant that he was gay -- but there is none. It just furthers the stereotype.

13. Perhaps they are trying to get rid of the stereotype.
Think about it. This could happen to anyone, in any occasion. The kid never thought about the ramifications of 'sex' or 'same sex' because at the time he thought it was normal, for him. I'm not gay but I don't give a damn and applaud anyone who finds love, hooks up, or does whatever their heart tells them to do.

21. No, guys, in my opinion the gay thing was a twist to explain WHY
he was witholding information. We/they all thought it was related to the terrorists when in fact it was related to shame and personal stuff.
I thought it was pretty clever. If anything, to me it pointed out HOW evidence can alwaye be interpreted in multiple ways...

12. I was a big fan of 24 in previous seasons
and watched this season. But this season has really been contrived. I hope they get their groove back next year. Tonight was just one of several times they really lost touch with reality.

23. How dumb was it to show up at terrorist's apt. complex in a noisy chopper?
I mean, that was ridiculous. Also, it was ridiculous that Marwan escaped -- that they underestimated the fact that terrorists could be lurking in the dark industrial complex -- i mean, where were the choppers with searchlights/ and infra red then? And while we're at it, how could Bauer's pal give up his gun to that girl terrorist with the back tattoo, knowing damn well he would be fucked. I am a latecomer to 24. Everyone tells me it used to be really good. I watch it but there are way too many holes.
