I just lost my star
And now I have to see if I can afford another one. I gave what I could for Andy... and I'm not working these days.

I think I'll have to go without for awhile.

1. I'm in the same boat
lost mine a day or two ago, but I'm so broke (all my $$ is going to bills and rent and bus fare) I can barely make it from one cheque to the next :\ Could be a lot worse, but I have no spare for DU :(

3. I have a job
A terrible, horrible no good job. But a job. What line of work were you in? I'm sorry you're having troubles :(
At the very least, I can cover the bills so I don't have too much to complain about.

4. My job was awful too
I was glad when they let me go. I'm still collecting unemployment insurance for a couple more months but have to be careful. I was working in tech but I'm sick of it, they don't want to pay for the work you do anymore and expect mega-overtime for nothing.

10. keeripes. You are both Canadian
That is supposed to be the promised land. Like heaven, only colder. And there are no jobs there, or crappy low paying jobs? What about the free health care?
What are your local unemployment rates? Worse than ours? What about labour force participation rates?
What about labor laws as far as work week? How long is your work week?

16. Well, from what I know
it *is* better than a lot of States. There are jobs, but this is a terrible time of year in my city to find a job. We have two universities and they're both letting out for summer. My biggest problem at my job is that they have me in a higher tax bracket than I should be, so I'm losing about $120/cheque, plus having just moved there are about a million unforeseen expenses cropping up.
Work week is no more than five days a week, and no more than 8 hours a day, which I think is standard, with two paid and one unpaid break. So, you could work 3 hours a day for six days a week, and you'd get paid overtime for 3 of those hours. Or you could work 4 days for 12 hours a day, and you'd get paid each day 4 hours of overtime.
Make sense? I'm breaking my brain its too early for me.
If we didn't have free health care I'd probably be working 2 terrible jobs just to cover my expenses and running myself into the ground so I'd need a third job to cover the extra Dr.s visit.

5. I lost my star, too.
I think I will have to wait awhile before I can afford another one. May is a rough month.

6. Seems to be a tight month for a few of us
I'll share a lesson that my cat is trying to teach me (in haiku)...

Most problems can be
Ignored. The more difficult
Ones can be slept through.

8. F*ck! I lost mine too!
Now the issue for me is whether DU is WORTH donating to.

Flame away, but this place AIN'T what it used to be. Skinner, I hope you're listening.

17. Hmmm. Have you contacted Skinner?
That's what they said to do if you didn't get a star within a few days after donating.
