Any fans of the band Muse here?
very operatic, but with plenty of modern-daty aggression--they kind of sound like what Queen would sound like if they recorded video-game soundtracks.
Their most recent (I think) album, Absolution, was, I'm pretty sure, recorded after the Iraq invasion, but to me anyway the album's tone is really redolent of how I felt during the run up to the quagmire-that feeling of, "Holy shit, a HUGE mistake is about to be made here, why isn't anyone doing anything?"

1. I dig Absolution
I don't think it's the best thing since sliced bread, but it's definitely really good.

3. haha, but yeah, what beats sliced bread?
I think that's an unfair comparison--have you ever tried to shove a whole loaf of bread in your mouth at once?

4. yeah, Radiohead would definitely be the other major touchstone
in a big way. For whatever reason, though, I always think Queen when I listen to Absolution; not sure if it's the hyper-dramatic piano or the minor guitar heroics.
