alt country fans: break out the clue sticks
hit me

1. The new Ryan Adams, "Stone Roses" Critics are saying that it his best work. Thats says alot. All I can tell you is disc 2 is pure Gram Parsons, which is the heart of alt country music

2. Kathleen Edwards has a new one out, "Back To Me" follow-up to impressive debut "Failure" Busts out of the usual sophmore slump. Watch out Lucinda Williams, there's a new singer/songwriter on the scene

3. Josh Ritter "Hello Starling" Oh yeah. That song "kathleen" has a great line. 'all the other girls here are stars, you are the northern lights'

4. Josh Rouse "Nashville" and "1972" I cant tell you which one is better. Just go find out for yourself.

5. My retro group of late is The Gourds. They are alot of fun, they've added players to the mix. Margaritamama, hippiechick(that groovy girl) and I will be digging them next month at Bonaroo

rock on

2. Hey, can you give me some information on any streaming audio
Edited on Sun May-15-05 10:04 AM by Redstone
of alt country? It's damned hard to find this kind of music here in the Northeast, even on the college radio stations.

I like the genre, but am unfamiliar with most of the artists, so I'd like to be able to hear some of their stuff so I can decide which CDs to buy.

Thanks,

Redstone

PS: Is this music still also called Roots and / or Americana, or have those terms gone out of use?

14. The new Son Volt record...
features guitarist Brad Rice who is the former guitarist for Ryan "The Sweetheart of Rodeo Drive" Adams. It is very good.
