and that Americans were culinary heretics for adopting in Colonial days when pies were generally filled with meat.

I don't see the point of an official national pie. But apple probably has the best claim.

'Should English be the official American language'
and I posted 'no, for the same reason apple should not be the official pie'. And someone started posting about pie and it reminded me.

But no doubt some freeper will look at this and say: See, those DUers are against apple pie!

I have a farmer's market down the street every week during the warm weather and one booth has FRESH HOMEMADE STRAWBERRY PIE. It's pure heaven.
