I just pulled my PC out of the shop. Been there 3 days and the assholes
keep putting other systems in from of mine. Called Wednesday and they told me that 3 were in front of me. Called this morning and now FIVE are in front of me! Fuck em!

I had a reboot-loop problem. I tried the F8 deal and the safe mode wouldnt come up. So I tried a system restore and now all is well for now.

Do you think that the fact I installed a photo printer and related software could have caused my problem?

1. Probably, if the big difference when you system-restored
was going to a state without the printer and software installed.

Do you need all the related software? I hate hardware that comes with stuff they suggest you need to make the hardware work, but really don't. Usually it's just crap trial version junk.

6. Absolutely
Just install the printer with its drivers. Correctly installed, it'll show up in the Print... window.

8. It was a Compaq. MY MB burned out 6 months ago, so I upgraded
We also discovered that the 512 MB of RAM that was supposedly in the Compaq only had a 256 SIM chip. WTF is up with that. I bought a new 512 for $90.00 and it ran great up until the other day when this boot-loop deal started.

NEVER buy a Compaq!

3. Windows corrupts itself for amusement...
You don't need to have done ANYTHING to make that happen.

This is part of why I avoid Windows. (Along with the fact that Microsoft supports arch religious wingnut Ralph Reed! Giving money to Microsoft is giving money directly to your enemies!!!)

I have an Apple Store right down the road from me. Walked to the mall from my car, and was greeted at the entrance by the Apple Store Christiana Manager James Bressi, who quickly grabbed the box from my hands and carried it through the mall to the store. We set it at the Genius Bar, which looks, well, like a sparse bar, complete with barstools and people working behind it. In the past, I was used to my Macs having to be shipped away to be worked on. The geniuses behind the bar popped the case right there in front of me, diagnosed the problem, and proceeded to fix it right there as I watched. All the while they chattered on about all things Mac. Other users with software and hardware issues came in, sat at the bar, speaking with the techs and with other users. What a wonderful experience. Even after having it fixed, I sat there for another two hours, and had conversations with some pretty interesting and amazing people.

Kudos to Apple for such a great service experience.

13. These guys put mine on a shelf and told me they would call me later
in the day. They didnt! I called that night and a grouchy voice scoldingly told me that there are 3 in front of me and they'll get to mine in the morning. I didnt call the next day or the day after that one. Called this morning and another grouchy voice tells me that 5 systems are in front of mine and they'll get to it when they can. I told them that there were 3,two days ago, and now FIVE? "Well they were mistaken", he claims.
I drove right down there and rescued it, then tried the simplest solution and fixed it myself.

They will not get my business anymore and I will spread the word on them.

What was the store you went to? A chain, or some local place?
