1. S-T-R-A-N-G-E little flick. I really enjoyed it.
If you liked that, you might enjoy Steve Buscemi's "Trees Lounge"...

On one hand it's like comparing apples and oranges, but on the other, the "indie film vibe" was something I found very similar. I think that a person who liked one of the films would almost certainly like the other.

Steve Buscemi, an icon of the independent film world for years, took the opportunity to write, direct, and star in this wistful low-budget gem. He plays Tommy, a Long Island loser who gets tossed from his job as a mechanic for questionable financial antics. He spends his days at a local bar, drinking his life away even as he denies that he's doing any such thing. And when he finally works up the gumption to get a job, he winds up driving an ice-cream truck in his old neighborhood--and getting involved in an inappropriate relationship with his teeny-bopper assistant (Chloe Sevigny), earning the violent enmity of her father (Daniel Baldwin). Low-key in its approach, the film has a sad humor that is both knowing and forgiving, as well as offering one of Buscemi's best performances. --Marshall Fine

Description
All Tommy wants from life is what everyone else has - a job, a girl, a good time. But the harder he tries, the worse things get. And the more time he spends at Trees Lounge, his Long Island neighborhood bar, the more he gets involved with the lives of the colorful characters he meets there. Deluxe Edition includes: Director's commentary, original theatrical trailer, Trees Lounge music video. Steve Buscemi, Chloe Sevigny, Anthony LaPaglia

3. That's funny. I was just thinking about that movie.
I'd just seen "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" with Sam Rockwell as well.

A local reviewer called "Box of Moonlight" a "crackpot jamboree" as a criticism, but I thought that was part of it's charm. Catherine Keener is great as always as that hopeless phone-sex operator.

I went to see it as did a whole bunch of work buddies because we all know Pete Rockwell, Sam's father, and were pretty amazed at how good he was and how well he's done since.
