I'm an elitist home schooler.
:eyes:

My mom was at work and a friend (who know through another friend) called and they started talking. Then I was mentioned and they got on to that topic. Then he asked what I was up to, I guess, and mom said I got a job and blah blah. Something about college came up, she said I wasn't sure about what I want to do (which is true) and he said, "well that's because she never had peer pressure."

My mom asked what he meant and I guess they got into a little fight over home schooling. And he said I was an elitist because I was home schooled. That I come ACROSS as ELITIST! :wtf:

I have never said anything to him about this. The only time we've talked about it, to my knowlege, is when I first met him. I was like 15 so we talked about how I was home schooled, and how I enjoyed it. Stuff like that.

I'm really pissed off right and really offended. I don't ever think I'm better then anyone. I try to be a good person. And I get called elitist? I thought he was a family friend.

1. I can't talk to you anymore...elitist.
:P Seriously, if being smart, with a good sense of self (from what I have seen) and terribly charming is elitist...then I would guess so. But I'm thinking that you are a person who is just well adjusted and this friend has issues. :hi: Besides, you think your mom is cool, even...which gains you about 24 thousand points in my book.

17. Or he could have gone to a crappy private school.
Private school does not always equal better than public school. Much depends on the student.

9. I was home schooled
I honestly would not change a thing. I left public school after a political essay during the Clinton impeachment got me in trouble (They said I supported "deviant behaviour" and I got an F for not following the "formula" in a project in art school (I added gold leaf to an etching)

In my experience, people look down on it. I really had the best education possible, because it was in the real world.

10. I know.
I don't think one way is better then the other, I think it's all a matter of what works for that family. For me and my family, home schooling was great.

12. Oh, brother!
You mean he thinks that everyone who goes to a public high school wants to go to college because of peer pressure? How does that explain all the kids who DON'T go to college? Or who drop out?

That's got to be one of the dumbest arguments I ever heard.

23. Question about homeschooling
Who do you go to when you have a question about a subject that your books don't address? I find it hard to believe that every home schooling parent is qualified to teach all the subjects required. I know very little about this subject and would appreciate any input from those who are homeschooled or those who do homeschool their children.

24. I got my curriculum from a place called Oak Meadows
They send you books and school work. So everything was set up pretty easy.

Plus there are tons of community things, and internet groups.
