Do you get pissed when you don't get 'the wave'??
Whenever someone lets you into traffic, or exerts some sort of courteous driving behavior, it's important to give them a gargantuan wave to ensure they know you're recognizing their gracious actions.
Of course there are many drivers who don't feel that it is necessary to wave when you let their huge, ugly ass car merge into traffic. this pisses me off to no end, but only because im an asshat when it comes to being polite. :P

so, who here is a waver, and who thinks this is utter bullshit?

1. yes. i wave.
i also try to be good about letting people in, so it disappoints me when i don't get the acknowledgment.

2. I wave, but I will completely ignore the plight of SUVs
trying to get into traffic, even if letting them in would obviously make no difference to me.

In fact I go out of my way to make their driving experience as frustrating as hell, and I dare say I can be pretty effective at pushing buttons ;-)

3. Depends.

I have come to realize that sometimes it isn't possible to give a wave (due to trying to concentrate on driving) so I let it go most times.

But then there is always one that... :grr:

On edit: I wave.

4. I'm a waver.
And I mouth the words "Thank you" in an overly obvious way.

Of course I have other hand gestures and words for other traffic situations. ;)

14. You just don't know how much I appreciate that!
That was the perfect way to recognize my kindness.

(and now I'm waving and mouthing "thank you" to you) :hi:

13. Highly pissed...
usually say something hoping they hear me about how rude they are..

from my experience, its usually women (i am a female that does wave) who drive overly expensive cars and or minivans.

I wave every time regardless of the circumstance.. if its at night I beep my horn.

What also used to piss me off is when I worked retail. I'd spend 1/2 hr explaining something to someone and then they'd just walk off.. no thanks, nothing.. Just walk off. I always say thanks and I appreciate it when I need help with a purchase..

I hate rudeness ughh...

25. I wave, but it's not necessarily an expression of great gratitude.
It's to acknowledge that I realize they are letting me in, and, yes, I am coming over.

Side thought - what do you think of people who HOLD UP other traffic behind them to let people in, apparently thinking they are being very polite? I'm not talking about people merging from other lanes where traffic keeps flowing, I'm talking about people who stop dead in the middle of the road to let in some guy who wants to make a right turn out of the minii-mart or something.
