My huge weimaraner just came in my front door and plopped down...
on the hardwood floor in my living room.

He ALWAYS stays outside...never likes to come in. The one time before when he came in (it was during freezing weather last year), he went from room to room hiking his leg and pissing on anything that had a corner on it, including my bed. So, he and I have long had a mutual agreement--the front porch, along with the wicker furniture, is his to any extent he wants it to be, but he doesn't come inside.

Well, it looks like we're going to have to renegotiate our agreement. He's being a good guy. Lying still and not looking for things to pee on. :D

Here's his photo:

Isn't he cute? :D

11. OMG.
Your user name. What does it mean?

I called my grandmother "Mala." She just passed away several weeks ago...she was my heart.

:hi:

3. He's a Beauty!
My sister has a Beagle who hates being inside and her neighbors call the SPCA on her all the time. He doesn't get out, he has a dog house, and my sister keeps fresh food and water out there for him at all times. The neighbors think that they are being cruel by keeping him outside. What they don't realize is that the last time my sister tried to force him in the house he tried to BITE her. He REALLY hates being inside.

10. My guy is a true watchdog.
My driveway is very long and gravel. Someone can turn off of the highway onto my driveway, and he hears from the house, and sounds the alert.

Your sister's neighbors sound looney. My dad raised beagles years ago, and they were the same way. Prefered to be outside...even the puppies.

15. They're HUGE animal rights people
which is totally cool. But they apparently need to learn what is animal cruelty and what is just the animal's own personal choice.

18. I rescued Bisbee.
And then he rescued me after a go-cart wreck...read my post below.

He's the best canine pal I've ever had. :)

16. Advice, if you want to hear it.
They go through a pretty hyper, chewing stage. Will chew anything they can get their teeth on...Bisbee even chewed my doorframe around my front door.

But there is no more loyal breed than a Weimy. I had a go-cart wreck a couple of years ago...ran my go cart off into the creek. I broke my leg at the knee, and it was in the winter...so I was stuck in the creek, about to go into shock. Bisbee came down into the creek, let my hug onto him, and he dragged me out of the creek. Then he layed down on top of me and kept me warm until the rescue guys got to me.

After that, I never scolded him again for sleeping in the wicker furniture. He's my hero dog.

Best breed ever.

14. I had a big Silver/gray like him.
Oddly enough Ollie WOULD NOT pee in the house. Ever, even as a pup. He always wanted to go outside. I sure miss that boy.

Woof

19. I love my guy, too.
He's a leg hiker, though. He hikes and pees on anything around. He's very territorial--which is good, because we live in a very isolated place, and he keeps watch on things. :)

17. I love Weimaraners
and have always wanted one. I was told and learned through research that they are very bright and you have to have lots of time to spend with them to train them. Since I did not have that kind of time (I was still training my kids) I opted not to get one. Someday I hope to change that.

He is beautiful, they are all so beautiful. Such soulful eyes.

21. Thanks!
They are extremely bright. They learn commands with little effort.

My boy still thinks that he's a pup, though. Even though he's huge, he tries to crawl up into my lap when I'm sitting outside. He also "herds." If I'm walking outside, he leans against me to steer me the way he wants to go.

24. Ahhhhh
My Golden is on the couch next to me right now and my Lab, a big 90 pound monster, is trying to edge her out. The little one is jumping around trying to get her attention too. I love my doggies and always enjoy all the pet posts on this site.

Again, he is a real beauty and I love the story above about him rescuing you.

20. Is he neutered? If not, that may eliminate the "marking" he's doing.
Cute boy, though!
