I saw an article today about Rick Santorum. I'm not exactly sure what the point of it was, but it mentions Santorum's son Gabriel, who lived only 2 hours outside of the womb.
One paragraph describes how the Santorums took Gabriel's body home to show to their children:
'He and Karen took Gabriel's body home so their children could "absorb and understand that they had a brother," Santorum says. "We wanted them to see that he was real," not an abstraction, he says. Not a "fetus," either, as Rick and Karen were appalled to see him described -- "a 20-week-old fetus" -- on a hospital form. They changed the form to read "20-week-old baby."'He only lived two hours outside the womb, but he's a 20-week-old baby?
So I guess since Republicans can decide that Terri Schiavo was not really married to Michael anymore, and was therefore Terri Schindler, they can decide that there is no such thing as a "fetus."
So is there any reason that shouldn't apply to all of us, to factor in our gestational period when determining how old we are?
