For real. I work in a low-to-medium-paying job that works with customer relations and also accepts money from people that owe us money. We produce personal checks.
The other day, I was transferred a call from a "rep" that said "Jesus" was calling. She said, "And he doesn't pronounce his name as "Hey-Sus"...I said, "Go ahead, and put him though". I pull up his account and I see that his name is indeed Jesus Christ. So, I say, "Yes, Mr. Christ, may I help you?"
He says, "Yes, I got a bill for $20 odd dollars...and since I am Jesus, I want to pay what I owe."
I ask if Jesus Christ was his real name and he said yes, he had changed it to Jesus Christ back in the 1980's.
I asked if I could ask him a personal question? Was he a Democrat or Republican? He said a better question might be whether or not he was a "conservative" or a "liberal"? Sensing that he was a "conservative", I felt I needed to challenge him. "OK, which are you", I asked? He said, "Sometimes I'm a conservative and sometimes I'm a "liberal"...
I asked him if he believed the words that were written in the Sermon on the Mount and did he think they were "conservative"? He said, "Oh, you mean the Beatitudes"? And do you believe in the war that is being fought in Iraq, I asked. He said, "That's a good question".
I gave him a 25% discount on what he owed. I asked him whether or not he chose to pay the full amount, since he was Jesus? He said, "But, I am Jewish"...We laughed about that...I said,"...even Jesus needs checks.."
It was a longer call than usual. He went on and on about the Hindus and the Muslims and his "Father"...But he did not try to "save" me. He said I didn't sound like I was from Colorado? I said, "No, I was born in Jerusalem", just joking.
I finished up his account and he gave me his email address and said he had a website about "healthy wise organics". It was such an unusual call. It happened just as I described above. He called back later to talk to "ken" but I was not available....
How would you handle such a telephone conversation? This really happened...
