When cliques gang up on ATA to petition en masse for the censure of posts that dispute their worldviews, that's some crybaby shit, right there. As a vocal Kucinich supporter during primary season, I ate mountains of shit from so-called moderates on DU about my candidate of choice, and you didn't see me griping in ATA. People disagree. If that fact can't penetrate someone's cranium, that someone should get a fucking helmet, this is a discussion group, not a Stepford ice-cream social.

The religious v anti-religious stuff has been building on DU for a year and this thing has just brought it to a head.

They're admins; they're not Solomon but they're about as close to it as you could ask any board admin to be. They bend over backwards to be fair and allow people to express themselves even in cases when some find that expression distasteful.

And Skinner's dead on about the Clark stuff and people trying to skew DU for campaigning purposes.

First the controversy about whether Clark voters were unfairly dominating the greatest page. Skinner wrote a reply to which many Clark supporters took offense. The second is the controversy surrounding the pope, to which none of the administrators have responded. I don't know where the administrators have gone, but in the meantime the inmates are running the asylum.

It's not chaos, and the inmates aren't running the asylum. There are some people acting out a bit and pushing at boundaries since it was noticed that the admins have been absent from ATA (and I can't IMAGINE who those people might be :evilgrin:), but the site still looks to be running fine from where I sit.
