How do you cook Beef Round Rump Roast Boneless?
It's three pounds and it was on sale for $8.00. I am just a helpless bachelor and can cook little more than a boiled egg. I don't have a cook book either. Can I use my Crockpot? Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks

1. Put it in your crockpot
with some beef broth, some red wine, some potatoes, onions, garlic. Set it to low for about 8 hours. It will be delicious.

3. Crock pot is okay
Edited on Wed Apr-20-05 11:22 AM by ewagner
a "Dutch Oven" is okay too. It needs moisture to tenderize so put some water or broth in with it and keep it covered. Use garlic salt or just slat and pepper to season it...Throw some veggies in with it for the last hour or so of cooking...

on edit: reply #1 which suggests wine is okay too....matter of fact, better than my suggestion!!!! :bounce:

6. Here's what you do
Preheat your oven to 425 Take your roast pat with a little olive oil, some thyme (or Italian Seasoning), salt, pepper and a bit of powdered garlic.

Don't put the roast in the oven until it is throughly hot. Put roast on a roasting pan with a rack. Leave in about 15 minutes and reduce the heat to 350.

After about an hour check with a meat thermometer, take it out when rare temp is reached. Set aside covered with foil about 20 minutes before cutting.

While you're cooking this you could bake a few potatoes. About the easiest dish and good with the juice. Just put them in when you reduce the temperature.

Serve with a salad, the potatoes and some French bread for the "juice".

You'll impress a friend.

7. Brown it on all sides really good first
Then put garlic powder, salt, and pepper on it and slow bake it in the oven at 325 for about an hour to get it as rare or well done as you want.

8. Heck yes, crockpot that sucker...
That'll feed ya for a few days. Set your crock pot on the low setting and plop that sucker right in there with a couple of cups of water, some seasoning and some mixed veggies.

Let it cook for eight hours while you're at work and you'll have one heck of a soft, tender baked yummy roast when you get home.

10. You could use creamy onion soup too instead of water.
Even add some onions, carrots, celery, and potatoes.

9. butterfly it
cut through it horizontally but leave about half and inch. Open it up like a book. Spray both sides with Pam. Take about 2tbs coarse ground black pepper, about 1/2 teaspoon powdered garlic and about 1 tsp salt and mix it together. Turn the roast so that the fat part is on top,(rounded top, not the cut part) and sprinkle the pepper mixture over it generously. Can pat it in if you want. Put on a broiler rack (spray with pam for easy clean up) preheat oven to 475 and bake for ten minutes, then turn down to 350 and bake for another twenty minutes. If you have a kitchen thermometer, to be rare, the way I like it, it should be at 140degrees when inserted into the roast. let it sit for five minutes before slicing and slice thin, This is great for leftovers in sandwhiches or can use for open faced hot sandwiches using canned gravy on top.
