GMs New GIANT Hummer Starts At $140,000
Edited on Thu Apr-14-05 11:47 AM by matcom

<snip>

It's bigger and badder and would be right at home with the GIs patrolling Baghdad. :puke:

GM is taking the wraps off the 2006 Hummer H1. The military-style Humvee gets a new Duramax turbo-diesel V-8 in the upgraded Alpha model.

The 300-horsepower engine is needed to move the 7,600-pound beast.

The civilian Hummer has touches GIs can only dream about, like air conditioning, power windows and door locks, a premium stereo system and leather-trimmed seats.

But you need something like the Pentagon budget to buy one. The hardtop Hummer H1 has a sticker price of $140,000.

The last model started at around $106,000. There's no official government fuel-economy rating yet, but the two fuel tanks hold about 52 gallons of gas which GM says should get you almost 600 miles.

14. I think you're required to show your small penis to the sales person...
...in order to buy one of them.

5. Pretty rosy fuel economy statement
52 gallons for 600 miles? It would have to get > 11 mpg. No fucking way.

19. Perhaps they meant 52 gallons per tank.
No wonder GM is doing so badly. Almost no one would buy anything like that, even rich stupid people.

6. My husband said some auto company is going to make hybrid SUVs
is that so? Seems pretty stupid.

I hate parking next to the "small" Hummers. Can't imagine a parking lot filled with those.

8. 52 gallons, 600 miles (obviously highway mileage)
That comes to about $130 to fill the tank and about $1.00 for every 4 miles traveled. City driving is probably twice that.. $1.00 for every 2 miles. Hey, maybe Bushitler can give a bigger tax break if you buy the bigger Hummer to offset the extra crappy fuel economy. GM, moving backwards with a vengeance.

FEATURING A GIANT-ASSED REAR WINDOW SO YOU TWO-UNS CAN PUT THEM DUBYA-04 STICKERS ABOVE YOUR 50 "SUPPORT YOUR TROOPS" MAGNETS, THE IRONY OF WHICH WILL COMPLETELY ESCAPE YOU LIKE A BUDWIESER-FART IN THE WIND!!!!

Fucking ridiculous.

30. No "support your troops" magnets on this thing
H1s have aluminum bodies and fiberglass hoods--it's so they're light enough to put on an Air Force cargo plane.

No, you'll just have to plaster it with Dubya-04 stickers and "My Penis is So Small I Have To Hold It With Tweezers" decals. But no magnets.

18. 600 miles per fill up is about what I get in my Insight
So I guess it's as good for the environment as my car!

I can't argue with that.

Then again, my car has a 10.8 gallon tank.

I mean jesus-fucking-christ on a cracker, can you GET any more obvious in an attempt to pander to the penis-compensator crowd???

These days I don't flip Hummer drivers off or shoot them angry looks, I just start laughing as hard as I can in their faces. That seems to burn them up even more.

26. And how many of these behemoths does GM plan on selling?
with gas anywhere from 2.50 - 5.00 gallon?

This is just too rich. GM is going to almost put itself ot of business trying to sell it in the same market that has USED PRIUSs sometimes going for more than new ones.

27. Well, at least it is a diesel engine.
Which can be converted over to biodiesel. But how many will actually do that is the question.

Still and all, another useless penile compensatory vehicle hitting the road.:eyes: And what's really funny is that all of the people who really do need serious off road reliabilty and ruggedness all laugh at these useless vehicles.
