Mrs. gratuitous has a new job, and on break they were watching some of the interminable coverage of the Pope (You know, the Pope? The one in Rome?) and his demise. One of her new co-workers said, "You know, before all this coverage, I didn't realize that the Pope was Catholic!"

She hasn't been on the job long enough that she would have given this person a smack across the back of the head, but lordy!

Okay, anyone want to try to beat that for dumbest thing you've heard this week?
