Cat health insurance...

Hi everyone!

Well our bill for Albert's stay in the cat hospital is now about $2,000. They're treating her really well (she's got kidney problems and they have her on an IV drip) and her numbers are coming down (though they went back up a little when they removed the drip).

Anyway, the bill for this is gonna end up hurting pretty bad, but not worse than putting her to sleep would, before she's ready.

So I was wondering if anyone has experience with pet health insurance. I know it exists, but I don't know much more than that. Are there firms that actually do a good job with it? How much does it run? Are there too many beuracratic hoops to jump through?

We have two more cats who are healthy, but everyone dies and everyone gets sick, so maybe it'll be worthwhile to be a little forward thinking.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Albert might be coming home today, but I'm terrified that once she's off the drip the numbers will go right back up (even with fluid injections). If that's the case, then we're basically screwed. Her ultrasound showed pretty reasonable kidneys, so they're kinda clueless as to what is causing the problem. She's also got thyroid problems.
