jim, i wore a tie today
i bought a country aLbum for the first time ever... and i actuaLLy Love it! hopefuLLy, this isn't a trend for me.
and hopefuLLy, you won't think Less of me. ;)

Jim I wore a tie today the first one that I ever wore
Imagine you'd've said that I looked like a dummy out of some dry goods store
Jim they said a lot of things I couldn't tell you one thing they said
Somehow my mind kept wanderin'
Wanderin' down back that trail back to the times that we've had

2. The first step on the slippery slope
Give it five years and you'll be a full blown red-neck freeper conservative; the bizarrely capitalised Ls will be replaced by equally bizarrely capitalised Cs. What a loss it will be to D.U.

7. I Knew It!
Just call it great music. Johnny, Willie, Kris and Waylon have all had to fight their own battles against the country music establishment. Their influences go far beyond country music and they have all had issues with country radio refusing to play their music. Johnny bought an ad in Billboard expressing his gratitude to country radio in the late 90's after he won a grammy. The picture in the ad showed a picture of him flippin' the bird.

16. I Like 'Em All
Waylon played with Buddy Holly - and should have been on the plane that crashed.

Kris is the best lyricist among the group IMHO. And he is quite a liberal voice. Something that he follows through with. As I recall he adopted several Salvadoran orphans a few years back. If you like political music then check out his Third World Warrior CD sometime.

Willie too is wonderful - and quite vocal in his political opinions.

But Johnny is my fav from the group - not necessarily because of his music. Just because something about him was larger than life.

17. Waylon's Gone
Kris is still here. Acting and writing and performing. And speaking his liberal mind.

18. sniffa, just don't buy Toby Keith,and it's cool.
There's a few other rightie-whities you might want to stay away from too, like Ricky Scaggs and the Oak Ridge Boys. I am sure others can chime in and add to the list.

Personally, I stopped listening to country and buying country CDs after they started trashing -- and quit playing -- the Dixie Chicks. That was just plain unAmerican.
