1. They really do wonderful work. They help with everything.
I'll always be grateful for what they did with my dad, and for us.

2. They allowed my father a dignified death
My father died of prostate cancer in 1994. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1991. He went into the hospice program in 1992. They usually don't accept you unless you have 6 months to live, but with the care they gave they extended my father's life 3 years. His quality of life diminished toward the end, however for many of those days he was still able to walk out and sit on the back porch and feed his beloved birds. My father got the most humane care possible because of the hospice program, the nurses, social workers and the center where he stayed briefly in Arlington, Virginia, the Northern Virginia Hospice Center.

The Hospice program actually makes it possible for a terminally ill person to live out their last days at home with the people they love and with pain relief when they need it. I have the highest praise for these people.

3. They were a huge help with my grandmother
The hospital kicked her out when her insurance ran out and hospice arranged for everything we needed to take care of her at home and were a wonderful emotional support to the entire family.

They do an invaluable work under the most difficult circumstances possible.

4. There are no better people in the world
I'm thinking I'm going to get an address for the hospice facility where Terri S. is and send them something.

6. Angels of mercy.........
I don't know how they do it, but they do. I had them in Dec. for my uncle. They were at his beckon call 24/7 and provided everything & anything I asked for. He went peacefully in his own home with his family at his side.

8. I still remember the kind clergy women at the hospice that
took care of my sister-in-law said to us when we took her off her respirator. She told us keeping her on life support would not prolong her life it would only prolong her death. Those words stuck with me & my husband & made our decision a little easier.
I have thought about those words a great deal over the last few days.

9. Okay I did it
I sent them some popcorn.

Can you imagine how horrible this must be for the hospice workers? Some cards and expressions of support would be nice.

10. Thank you to the kind workers
who do one of the emotionally hardest jobs on earth.

My prayers are especially with the hospice workers around Terri Schiavo. May they be kept safe from the nutcases who surround them.

11. ANYONE who works with the sick and dying...
I'm amazed by their strength and their compassion.
That is very hard work (I could never do it).
Lots of people leave them a donation.

12. Heroes. Every single one of them.
The sheer amount of compassion, patience, and love it takes to do this work is awe inspiring. My father was sick with cancer when he had hospice care and to know he had such wonderful care when he was at his weakest is a real comfort for me.
